Lyrics for Redneck as interpreted by _ANARCHiST_

Redneck Lyrics
So goddamn easy to write this
You make it spill on the page
So drunk on yourself, self-righteous
A laughing stock of your own fucking stage

Oh but I ain't one to call names
Or throw stones in a house of glass
You try me

This is a motherfuckin' invitation
The only one you could ever need
This is a motherfuckin' invitation
You try me

Just one time you got a reason
Heard you had nothing to lose
A blind preacher for the pin-eyed congregation
It must be easy to lose

Oh but I ain't one to call names
Or throw stones in a house of glass
You try me

This is a motherfuckin' invitation
The only one you could ever need
This a motherfuckin' invitation
You try me

You can tell the same lie a thousand times
But it never gets any more true
So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you

Just one time
This is a motherfuckin' imitation
The only one you could ever need
This a motherfuckin' invitation
Just one time

This is a motherfuckin' invitation
Ya' try me

Just one time(ya' try me)
Just one time(ya' try me)

Ya' try me

Vocalist Randy Blythe described the song's meaning in an interview with the magazine Metal Hammer:

"Generally, it's not about any one person in particular. It's about people in the music industry whose egos become needlessly inflated and they show it. It's a general song. It's applicable to anyone in their life. If a fan thinks, 'Oh, well, this guy is a prick,' go ahead and take it and make it yours."

oh and one more thing if you still don't believe me you could go and watch the music video. it's about him going into a nice neighborhood to a family that's never listened to metal a day in their life being shocked by metal. and they don't understand it. so you could tell what's on their mind is omgies devil worshiper music ;) yup.

Heelllloooo mcfly. the lyric's are way wrong. and i know exactly what this song mean's. It's a referance to people who refer to lamb of god as satan worshiper's and their "redneck"view's of metal. and he's saying that if someone say's that to his face he's going to kick the shit out of them.Their's very few satanic references in LOG song's and the ones their are aren't talking about satan or worshiping him.i've never heard him say something like "i want to suck satan's firey ballsack."So anyways yeah this song is about stupid redneck and conformists who refer to all metalhead's as satan worshipers.

This song is about Randy Blythe himself. Mark Morton wrote it. I just read it in one of my Guitar World magazines.

mark morton wrote this song about the singer because he was always drunk and out partying and he was almost kicked out of the band... so basically hes singing a song about himself being drunk all the time "so drunk off yourself, self righteous"

I think musicians should keep their political agenda's to themselves or else their art becomes nothing more than propoganda.
Anyways, I didn't see it as being about a specific person, but about abuse of power in general. When listening to it during the Bush admin it could easily be applied to him and now I apply it to Obama and it fits.

actually nebuchadnezzar was the name of a few kings of the babylonian empire, as well as the name of a few characters of literature from the 1700's so the movie was referencing that, this song is definitely calling somebody out but i don think its randy himself, this was the single so to have to talk shit about himself everyday would suck, good song from a fecking great band seen 'em live thrice and they melt face

Nebuchadnezzar, Bush was born in New Haven, Connecticut, he was the Governor of Texas, to our great shame, however you were still wrong, perhaps you should check your facts before calling everyone in a state stupid.

annnyway, great song ^^

According to Revolver, who actually spoke to LoG, this song was written by the band who were having problems with an always drunk Randy but Randy doesn't give a shit and performs the song anyway.

I've always seen this song as a shot at all the music media that doesn't like them or says they're crap, from the lines

"This is a motherfuckin' invitation
The only one you could ever need
This a motherfuckin' invitation
You try me"

and

So goddamn easy to write this
You make it spill on the page
So drunk on yourself, self-righteous
A laughing stock of your own fucking stage

pretty much, it seemed clear to me that he was saying to all the people bad-mouthing the band to fuck off.

Nebuchadnezzar is a piece of shit!
This song was written about him, and how his weiner is too small for the rest of his body!
And how his balls hang lower than the head of his penis!
And how "Nebuchadnezzar" is just the name he goes by when he's dancing in gay strip clubs!
"A laughter on your own fucking stage" refers to how even though he's wearing a mens' elephant thong, you can't see his bulge because his pecker is too small! Get it?! Everybody's laughing at him on stage because of his teenie weenie!!
HAH!! Don't mess with Texas, motherfucker.

It's definately about Bush. He's a laughing stock of his own stage (America) and a blind preacher for his pin-eyed congregation (meaning he is a lying leader of Americans who don't see anything that is actually taking place). And redneck is probably a nickname derived from the fact that that he is dumb and from Texas. (but aren't all Texans dumb...?)
Good song nonetheless and as for the elections this week, good riddance you piece of shit George Bush. You were the worst president since Nixon.

I don't know how true what coupdegrass is saying, but it seems reasonable. Why would Randy stil sing it though?
As for it being about fucking white trash, shitkicking rednecks? I can see it. I live in a small town in Texas, so there's a lot of rednecks, and they all think they're hot shit because they were driving in 8th grade, and because they go out and drink. I can't fucking stand them. The majority of them will just talk and talk and talk and won't do shit to back it up.
This is a motherfuckin invitation (Come on, show me what you can do)
The only one you could ever need (Because after this, everyone will know you're just another douche bag with a big mouth)
You try me/Just one time (Come on, try me/This is the only time somebody'll need to kick your ass)

I agree with some of you. It' talking about a person who's fooling themselves into thinking that people still respect them when, in fact, they are "A laughing stock of your own fucking stage". I like this song, it makes me think of a few certain people that are the same way.
