Hold it together, birds of a feather
Nothing but lies and crooked wings
I have the answer, spreading the cancer
You are the faith inside me
No, don't
Leave me to die here
Help me survive here
Alone, don't remember, remember
[Chorus]
Put me to sleep, evil angel
Open your wings, evil angel
A-ah
I'm a believer
Nothing could be worse
All these imaginary friends
Hiding betrayal
Driving the nail
Hoping to find a savior
No, don't
Leave me to die here
Help me survive here
Alone, don't
Surrender, surrender
[Chorus]
Oh
Fly over me, evil angel
Why can't I breathe, evil angel?
[Chorus]
Oh
Fly over me, evil angel
Why can't I breathe, evil angel?
Nothing but lies and crooked wings
I have the answer, spreading the cancer
You are the faith inside me
No, don't
Leave me to die here
Help me survive here
Alone, don't remember, remember
[Chorus]
Put me to sleep, evil angel
Open your wings, evil angel
A-ah
I'm a believer
Nothing could be worse
All these imaginary friends
Hiding betrayal
Driving the nail
Hoping to find a savior
No, don't
Leave me to die here
Help me survive here
Alone, don't
Surrender, surrender
[Chorus]
Oh
Fly over me, evil angel
Why can't I breathe, evil angel?
[Chorus]
Oh
Fly over me, evil angel
Why can't I breathe, evil angel?

"Put me to sleep, evil angel" - take me to bed
"Open your wings, evil angel" - spread your legs
"Fly over me, evil angel" - get on top
"Why can't I breathe, evil angel?" - choking or just exhausting sex
My mom's a trip huh? Anywhy don't take it to heart.

'I have the answer, spreading the cancer
You are the faith inside me'
Spreading its influences and considering it his true faith.
No, don't
Leave me to die here
Help me survive here
Alone, don't remember, remember
Expressing his need for this entity and embracing It's truths. The don't remember refers to the scripture, the word of God, it's saying don't remember for if he had he would not need to put his faith in a mere creation of God
Put me to sleep, evil angel - letting his sub-conscience be subjected to it's will
Open your wing, evil angel - allowing its influence to be spread through his deeds
I'm a believer
Nothing could be worse
All these imaginary friends
Hiding betrayal
Driving the nail
Hoping to find a savior
The Illuminate is run by Lucifer and along with his fellow fallen entities, this simply talks about all those 'imaginary friends' running the world through the hands of man.
At the end of the song he asks his 'savior' why he can't breath, he has been betrayed, deceived, and misled from the word of God, just as anyone who gets sucked into the occult.
This song is this sort of sub conscience influence whether you know it or not. I don't know why this is here or if they write their own lyrics but it's time to wake up and notice these things!
or not?
God bless!
"Hold it together, birds of a feather

And then these lines and the chorus maybe talks about how the person knows that the addiction will slowly kill him (hence the evil angel) but he doesn't have any other kind of support in his life, so he's holding on to it with everything he's got.
"No, don't
Leave me to die here
Help me survive here
Alone, don't remember, remember"
[Chorus]
Put me to sleep, evil angel
Open your wings, evil angel
This verse, reinforces the idea of his isolation and increased dependence on the drug:
"I'm a believer
Nothing could be worse
All these imaginary friends
Hiding betrayal
Driving the nail
Hoping to find a savior
No, don't
Leave me to die here
Help me survive here
Alone, don't
Surrender, surrender"
And here the the person's asking the drug or the personification of the drug to solve his problems, basically. The person wants the drug to make everything better but then is feeling the harmful effects of it.
[Chorus]
"Oh
Fly over me, evil angel
Why can't I breathe, evil angel?"
"Hold it together, birds of a feather
Nothing but lies and crooked wings"
Jesus is saying that all Christians need to stick together, because they have many enemies.
"I have the answer, spreading the cancer"
Jesus wants his disciples to spread the Word. Don't get why its cancer, but oh well.
"You are the faith inside me"
This is Jesus talking to his Father, God.
"No, don't leave me to die here, help me survive here alone, don't remember, remember"
This is Jesus on the cross, pleading with God to help him, and then believing God has forgotten him. Didn't mention at the beginning, but my interpretation doesn't exactly follow religious cannon; it's more like the alternate ending of how it could have gone wrong.
"Put me to sleep Evil Angel
Open your wings Evil Angel"
Believing his Father has forgotten him on the cross, Jesus turns to the Evil Angel (AKA the Devil) for comfort.
"I'm a believer, nothing could be worse"
Judas talking here, regretting being a disciple.
"All these imaginary friends"
He believes that God is not real, that He's an "imaginary friend"
"Hiding betrayal, driving the nail"
Obviously referring to Judas's betrayal
"Hoping to find a savior"
Judas wishing for a savior
"No, don't leave me to die here, help me survive here alone, don't surrender, surrender"
Judas regretting betraying Jesus, wishing he had his savior back.
"Put me to sleep Evil Angel, open your wings Evil Angel, fly over me Evil Angel, why can't I breathe Evil Angel?"
Judas also turns to the Devil for comfort.
Last is both of them.
Once again, this is only my interpretation, and is almost certainly not correct. I will probably get a lot of hate from Christians for interpreting this song as Jesus giving up, but this is only how I see it, not how you have to see it.
There are a many songs by Breaking Benjamin that deal with pain and addiction. (Dear Agony, Anthem of the Angels, Dance with the Devil, Unknown Soldier, ect.) This song seems to deal with spiritual side of addiction, the weakening effects and the desperate want to end it all. (Not by death, hopefully.) Ben appears to be going back from Satan to Christ. (Mostly just Satan though.)
This is my best guess so far, but I will have to look at it more.
