Definately not a SoCo song; it was written for Andrews sister after she was a positive donor for his bone marrow transplant as sort of a thank you

it was said in an interview he did with I think MTV.com. I'm sure it'll be a song he'll play between projects. I just like the fact he's got a sister named Katie. It's not everyday one of my favorite artists writes a song for his sister who shares my name. :) his sister Katie is now a household name, thanks to Andrew's immortialization of her in these lyrics. An amazing man, an amazing song, an amazing story.... The lyrical prowess this man posesses is infinate, and this song is just another example.

Thank the Lord for Andrew McMahon.

As Ototman14 said, it's brutal but beautiful. I heard this song last night at the show and...man. It's breathtaking. The way he sings it and the meaning pouring out of the music is enough to make a person shed a tear. hah.

I saw Jack's Mannequin on 9/15 in Cincinnati and that was the first time I heard this song. He said that he wrote it for his sister after she donated her bone marrow for his transplant. I think it's safe to say that it's a Jack's song and not a SoCo song. They played their whole album plus this, a few covers, and Me & the Moon (yes, SoCo).

ugh, you wish you had a brother as good as Andrew to write songs? Think about what you just said. Andrew's great, sure, but personally, I'd rather have a sister like Katie to give me a transplant.
I'm a big JM and SoCo fan, but it doesn't matter. Please realize that Andrew's just a person, not God. This doesn't just go to you, so I'm sorry for singling you out, but to everyone.
It is a beautiful song though, and Katie certainly deserves it.

i love this song. so much.
i read on MTV that he wrote it while his sister was sick.

"My sister got sick actually last year and I wrote her half a song while she was in the hospital and then never finished it..."

also, since he never finished it, i think he wrote the last part, like you guys have all been saying, after his sister gave him the transplant. In the second verse, with all that about him needing her courage, and the tables turning really supports this. oh, and you can download a decent version of this song here.

This song is so beautiful. It gives you chills to hear it live. I agree that Andrew is an amazing person and a talented songwriter, but really it should be all about the music. So, whoever said that he's not God, right on. I'm sure that he would agree, 'cause being in a happy relationship, I bet it gets pretty irritating having 80 million girls tell you they want to marry you and have your babies. :)

i only heard this song just before and was nearly brought to tears. I can sort of relate i didn't have cancer but i went through heart surgery not too long ago and my name is Katie haha.
I think his saying sorry because Katie going through a lot for him and i guess he feels bad for her but then again he is unbelievably great-full for what shes doing for him, well thats what i think

i think this song's supposed to be on his new album coming out this year, am i right?

it must have sucked for both andrew and his sister to have to go through something like they did. no wonder he wrote a song for her...
