Say, say, my playmate
Won't you lay hands on me
Mirror my melody
Transfer my tragedy?

Got a curse I cannot lift
Shines when the sunset shifts
When the moon is round and full
Gotta bust that box, gotta gut that fish

My mind's aflame

We could jet in a stolen car
But I bet we wouldn't get too far
Before the transformation takes
And blood lust tanks and
Crave gets slaked

My mind has changed
My body's frame, but, God, I like it
My heart's aflame
My body's strained, but, God, I like it

My mind has changed
My body's frame, but, God, I like it
My heart's aflame
My body's strained, but, God, I like it

Charge me your day rate
I'll turn you out in kind
When the moon is round and full
Gonna teach you tricks that'll blow your mind
Mongrel mind
Baby doll, I recognize
You're a hideous thing inside
If ever there were a lucky kind, it's
You, you, you, you

I know it's strange another way to get to know you
You'll never know unless we go so let me show you
I know it's strange another way to get to know you
We've got till noon; here comes the moon
So let it show you
Show you now

Dream me, oh dreamer
Down to the floor
Open my hands and let them
Weave onto yours

Feel me, completer
Down to my core
Open my heart and let it
Bleed onto yours

Feeding on fever
Down all fours
Show you what all that
Howl is for

Hey, hey, my playmate
Let me lay waste to thee
Burned down their hanging trees
It's hot here, hot here, hot here, hot here

Got a curse we cannot lift
Shines when the sunshine shifts
There's a curse comes with a kiss
The bite that binds the gift that gives

Now that we got gone for good
Writhing under your riding hood
Tell your gra'ma and your mama too
It's true
We're howling forever

General Comment:The song is about primitive desire and sexual chemistry, plain and simple.

General Comment:No. This is a good connection for all to make.

It's a "rider of the lupus hour" reference. Yes, he wants to "fuck". Yes, he is embracing his insanity. Yes, he is in total control. Yes, he doesn't have control at all. Dichotomy is the essence of understanding, since we only see things from OUR perspectives. This song and those lyrics are simply different perspectives from which one (or all) should gain yet another perspective. It's a big world, folks. Some people never step outside of their own minds. Yeah, I sound like a nut, but hell, I'm on a stupid website.

Song Meaning:Could be about tripping, though I always thought this song is about animalistic lust. The werewolf is an allegory for the animal inside us all that comes out when we feel passion for another person.

The shift/transformation is the moment when you go from being your normal self to the someone driven by lust.

The curse he can't lift is the 'curse' we all bear- we all have that side to us which is pure sexual feeling, without rationality. He talks about this in the lines:

    Mongrel mind/ Baby doll, I recognize / You're a hideous thing inside

Again emphasising the power of lust lies inside all of us. When these powers take over- his 'mind changes his body's frame', we find ourselves out of control, but still enjoying it. I see that this could be about drugs too- although I think the effects of drugs and sex are arguably similar so an argument for one interpretation supports the other anyway.

I think the imagery behind weaving/bleeding into each other, howling/writhing and being down on all fours is fairly obviously sexual. As is the use of 'playmate'.

General Comment:i think this song is about a man who is happy and having fun in a relationship but once they have sex it all goes serious and the women changes and as a result of that so does he and they find a real emotional connection instead of a fake one based around sex 'hence heart bleeding onto yours' and 'hands weaving onto yours' or it could mean like most other tvotr songs a man loving a woman when she doesnt really love him back...

General Comment:I feel this song is, at the beginning, about a guy who loves to go out and chase girls. As a lot of guys do! So anyway, he's got a lady who he thinks may be just another one night stand, but as the situation progresses he begins to realise they have a connection and eventually become one. I feel the whole werewolf thing is a metaphor for the transformation he goes through from being in lust, to being in love!

I hope I'm not boring you, but let me explain.

Initially he talks of a "playmate" that he wants to "lay hands on him" and a curse that appears to come at night, possibly when he is on a night out.
"busting that box" and "guiding that fish" could easily be an innuendo for having sex. Then the jet in a stolen car could represent the thrill of the flirt, indicating that it wouldn't take long before the red blooded human nature took over and their cravings for sex caved to their lust.

The bridge seems to represent the change in his frame of mind and attitude towards women, and how instead of feeling lust towards women, he feels love towards A woman.

The next verse seems to express his rage that this woman who he feels for was so easy to get, like a hooker. But he's still going to make her his!

The next bridge I feel goes back to the werewolf metaphor, how the change has taken place from a red blooded male that may treat women as objects, to a one woman man who is very much in love.

I think the next three mini verses are them actually having sex together and he has completed his 'transformation' from luster to lover.

Finally I think the last of the song is about them both being one in the same now, and how he has changed. " that bite that binds the gift that gives"....having a one night stand that actually turns into something, and him seeing the wicked or dirty side to this girl that her family would never see!!

If you've managed to read this far then thanks for your time. I heard this song for the first time the other day, and can't get enough of it!! It's really deep, and at the same time so lyrically clever. Any comments or views to what I've written are more than welcome!!!!

My Interpretation:Hmm, it seems obvious to me that the song is about more than just werewolves and such, obsessive love also occurs to me. I feel however the video doesn't live up to the song. I think one that does is the machinima, "Gilnean like Me" by Gnomechewer using footage from the Worgen race from World of Warcraft. That rocks.

Love that line, and of course the entire song.
I've listened to it about 50 times this week. (:
