A touch of poison seals my fate
The dawn echoes the night with my glory...the sun himself honors me

Once king of roses, now lord of gold
The Gods themselves envy my hand
Blessed with the gift of gilded touch
Fate wields its knife to cut the thread

I curse the day my dream became my descent suddenly I long for you,my only love

In my perfection I have no want
Yet eyes still glint with greed untold
A folly as fatal as sin has now become the end of me

I curse the day my dream became my descent suddenly I long for you,my only love

Have I not earned this, this gift of beauty within?
How selfish were the Gods to keep their riches from my rightful treasure?
I truly have become one of them...my fatal flaw

Oh yeah! I've got her hook, line, and sinker!
Thanks to me, she's her own new necklace! now she's good as gold!

I curse the day my dream became my descent suddenly I long for you,my only love...

Cut the thread...

Song Meaning:Well t is bout midas ok here ill do lyrics
"a touch of poison seals my fate
the dawn echoes the night with my glory...the sun himself honors me" meaning the poison f the "gift" Apollo gave him(golden touch)well he gets the gift in the morning so i suppose...? and the last one meaning Apollo gave him the "gift" so he thinks Apollo honors him
"once king of roses, now lord of gold
the Gods themselves envy my hand
blessed with the gift of gilded touch
fate wields its knife to cut the thread" well in the myth it says he had lots of roses so he was kings of roses but after the "gift" he became the one of gold and I think he thinks the Gods evny him for being able to have so much gold wen relly they r trying to teach him a lesson and gilded touch we all kno and fate and stuff he thinks it will be all good but fate comes along and "cuts his thread"
"I curse the day my dream became my descent suddenly I long for you,my only love" well he curses the day that his dream(bein very rich) became his downfall and dnt kno the rest srry
"in my perfection I have no want
yet eyes still glint with greed untold
a folly as fatal as sin has now become the end of me"well he thinks hes so perfect tht he only relly needs nothing more yet for some reason he still longs for more and it was his folly that like i said became the end of him(in the myth he doesnt die)
"have I not earned this, this gift of beauty within? how selfish were the Gods to keep their riches from my rightful treasure? I truly have become one of them...my fatal flaw" um he thinks he deserves all these riches and powers the gods have but i dnt relly get the last part. remember im going by the myth kinda. and srry i dnt kno the last lines but hope this helped

My Interpretation:What I don't understand, is why the song is called Ambrosia? Ambrosia is the food and drink of the Gods in Ancient Greek, making the one who drank it immortal. And as I don't know much about Midas and the myths surrounding him, I don't know he has anything to do with the ambrosia? Or am I wrong?
But besides this, Ambrosia is an amazing song, and Alesana is for sure one of my favourite bands!

General Comment:obviously, there are themes from king midias. but try and connect this with modern themes as well.
your life cant be compleatly run by material things...
a man felt as if he was so perfect and god like, only to realize that he was in love, makeing him mortal like every otehr human being...

i am probobly WAY off, but what ever...anyone can have thier own interpratation, right?

General Comment:I will probably cause more questions than answers but ambrosia is the food of the gods

King midas when tried to eat converted the food into gold when it touched his lips

    heres what wiki has to say;

¨In ancient Greek mythology, ambrosia is sometimes the food, sometimes the drink, of the gods, often depicted as conferring ageless immortality upon whoever consumes it. It was brought to the gods in Olympus by doves (Odyssey xii.62), so may have been thought of in the Homeric tradition as a kind of divine exhalation of the Earth.

Ambrosia is very closely related to the gods' other form of sustenance, nectar. The two terms may not have originally been distinguished;[1] though in Homer's poems nectar is the drink and ambrosia the food of the gods; it was with ambrosia Hera "cleansed all defilement from her lovely flesh" (Iliad xiv.170), and with ambrosia Athena prepared Penelope in her sleep (Odyssey xviii.188ff) so that when she appeared for the final time before her suitors, the effect of the years had been stripped away and they were inflamed at the sight of her. On the other hand, in Alcman, nectar is the food, and in Sappho (fragment 45) and Anaxandrides,[2] ambrosia is the drink. When a character in Aristophanes' Knights says, "I dreamed the goddess poured ambrosia over your head— out of a ladle", the homely and realistic ladle brings the ineffable moment to ground with a thump.¨

Song Meaning:This song is obviously about the mythological story of King Midas and his gilded (golden) touch ("Trust the Midas Touch!"-connection?). The Gods blessed him with the ability to turn anything he touches to gold, but his gift turns to a curse over time as he turns his only true love to solid gold by accident.
