Enfermo llegue
Y para componerme ando de vago
No me des tu obedencia

Yo no me quedo

Y ya que caíste de este mundo
Cargo una navaja, Dios mío, para ti
¿Cuantas veces me mordiste?
¿Y cuantas veces yo me fui?

Ya no me estoy enamorado
Con tus mentiras
El infierno me duermo
Porqué el infierno es la unica verdad

En mi vida
El oscuro me mantiene
Cuando yo te vi
En la lluvia me prometistes tu sangre
Yo no me quedo, en mi vida
El oscuro me mantiene
Cuando yo te vi
En la lluvia me prometistes tu sangre
Yo no me quedo

Estrella de la mañana
Samael, te persigo a ti
Y si me quedo sin alas
Además me muero por ti

Estrella de la mañana
Samael, te persigo a ti
Y si me quedo sin alas
Además me muero por ti

Estrella de la mañana
Samael, te persigo a ti
Y si me quedo sin alas
Además me muero por ti

Estrella de la mañana
Samael, te persigo a ti
Y si me quedo sin alas
Además me muero por ti

Estrella de la mañana
Samael, te persigo a ti
Y si me quedo sin alas
Además me muero por ti

OK, I'm gonna help you all here. I have the CD booklet right next to me - so that we can get the exact lyrics - and since I'm from Argentina I'm gonna try to translate it as correct as possible...

First, to get annoying, the correct translation for "Magdalenan Asylums" actually is "Asilos Magdalenos", but I guess that's simply Cedric's Spanish, as we've could see on "L'via L'viaquez". Now, the lyrics:

    1st VERSE:

Enfermo llege (wrongly written, is "llegué")

"Ill I arrived" is indeed the translation

Y para componerme and de vago (it's "ando" instead of "and")

Well, this may have a dozen translations... In Argentina, "vago" it's simply "lazy", while in other countries it may mean "bum". There's also the verb "vagar", to wander. My theory is that here, Cedric tried to say "And to get better ("componerme" = to recover) I wander around (to wander = vagar)"

    No me des tu obedencia

Clear: Don't give me your obedience

Porque te enseño mi cuerpo de lodo

Clear again: Because I show you my body of mud. It's up to us to interpret the relation between this two "clear phrases". For those who know about TMV lyrics: is he menacing the person he's addressing to? ("don't give me your obedience.. if you do, I'll show you my body of mud!") or actually meaning other thing? (like "don't give your obedience just because I show my body of mud")

Donde el piel estubo debil (well, it's "la piel", and "estuvo débil")

Clear, one more time: Where the skin was weak

Con una hambre que no me deje cantar (it's "con un hambre")

With a hunger that doesn't let me sing - a hunger so strong that doesn't let him sing, to make it more clear

    CHORUS

En me vida (it's "mi", not "me")

    In my life

    El oscuro me mantiene

Well, this could actually have two meanings, depending on the word "oscuro". If he meant "darkness", it's a writing mistake, since it should be "la oscuridad me mantiene"... But what if he meant "the dark one" (el oscuro)? Can that mean actually something? You know, "the dark one" may be Satan, or whatever.

The darkness/The dark one mantains me ("mantain" in the sense of "keeping me alive" is my guess)

Cuando yo te vi en la lluvia me prometiste tu sangre

Clear as water: When I saw you in the rain you promised me your blood

    Yo no me quedo

I don't stay, I'm not staying. Cedric's getting better with Spanish, since he managed to tie this with "en mi vida", giving the possible meaning of "I don't stay in my life".

    2nd VERSE:

Ya que calle de este mundo ("callé")

Well, it seems pretty clear: Since I silenced from this world. "Callé" ("I shut up, I made silence") is used in a pretty poetical way, possibly meaning "I died", "I no longer exist in this world". But this can also be a writing mistake, and he could actually mean "caí" (I fell). In such case the meaning would be pretty different. What do you think?

Cargo un navaja Dios mio para ti ("una navaja")

Clear, and I'll add some comas to make it clearer: I carry a knife, my God, for you. "Navaja" is some kind of pocketknife, but it can mean "knife" as well.

Cuantas veses me mordiste (it's "veces")

Clear: How many times did you bite me - meaning some how that there many times

Y cuantas veses yo me fui (same thing that previous verse)

Clear, again: And how many times did I leave ("me fui")

Ya no estoy enamorado con tus mentiras

I'm no longer in love with your lies

    Pa el infierno me duermo

Well, here "Pa" may be the common use - in Latin American Spanish - of the word "para" (for). But Cedric may also had wanted to mean "en" (in). Anyway, a correct meaning would be: "In Hell I sleep"

Porque el infierno es la única verdad

Clear: Because Hell is the only truth

    CHORUS

    LAST VERSE

    Estrella de la mañana

    Morning Star

    Samael te persigo a ti

    Clear: Samael I chase you

Y si me quemo sin alas

I found this meaningful. "quemo", from the verb "quemar", means "to burn". The verse would "and if I burn without wings" - quite a strong image. It's in the booklet, and Cedric sings it rather clearly, so I don't think is "y si me quedo sin alas" ("And if I remain without wings")

    Además me muero por ti

Well.. It would be "I also die for you". The use of the verb may be similar to "being impatient", "wishing something/someone severely", like in "God! I'd die to see TMV in concert!".

Well, that's it. As for the song, I find it really good, even that bizarre beginning (and sometimes I even dig that ending!)... I don't really get a great deal of the meanings, but in my opinion in might be the perspective of someone who is losing his/her faith, while recovering from some heavy suffering (maybe on "Meccamputechture", where "everybody stabs all the time"?) in some place far away (maybe the "Magdalenan Asylum" is a metaphor for a place far away - I even see it in the middle of a desert). Cedric even sings it like he's burdened, suffering... A great, great song, complete with Omar's kick ass guitar opening (I guess in this track it's his).

    English:

I arrived sick And to feel better, I'm always in the streets Because I showed you my body of mud Of where the skin was weak With a hunger that won't let me sing

In my life The darkness maintains me When I saw you In the rain you promised me your blood I don't stay in my life

The darkness maintains me When I saw you In the rain you promised me your blood I don't stay ...

Now that you've fallen from this world Carried the blade, my God, for you How many times did you bite me? And how many times did I leave? I am no longer in love With your lies In hell I sleep Because hell is the only truth In my life

The darkness maintains me When I saw you In the rain you promised me your blood I don't stay in my life The darkness maintains me When I saw you In the rain you promised me your blood I don't stay ...

Morning star Samael, I follow you And if I stay with nothing I will die for you

Ok, I've seen almost all translations and they are not 100% correct. I know what I'm saying because I speak both languages. Here is the translation:

Sick I arrived, and to remake (meaning convalesce myself), I wander around (he/she become a wanderer). Don't give me your obedience, because I'll show you my body of mud where the skin was weak with a hunger that won't let me sing.

In my life... The dark one (the dark one, not the darkness. If it was the darkness it would be "la oscuridad" in spanish)maintains me. when I saw you in the rain, you promised me your blood. I won't stay. In my life... The dark one maintains me. when I saw you in the rain, you promised me your blood. I won't stay.

As you fell from this world, I carry a blade, my God, for you. How many times did you bite me? And how many times did I go? I am no longer in love with your lies. In Hell I sleep, because Hell is the only truth.

Morning star, Samael I follow you, and if I burn without wings, I also die for you.

Actually, I believe the second line in the last verse (the one that is repeated 5 times) is actually:

    Samael te persigo a ti

I'd infer this considering the first line (Estrella de la manana) translates into "Morningstar" which is another name given to Satan or the Devil and "Samael" is also another name given to the Devil.

I would really appreciate for somebody to translate this gem, because right now I'm only connected by the music; I need to see if there's a lyrical connection as well.

I'm not staying in my life The dark mantains me When I saw you In the rain you promised me your blood I'm not staying

And now that you fell off this world I carry a knife My god For you How many times you bit me And how many times I left

And I am no longer in love With your lies In hell, I sleep Because hell is the only truth

In my life The dark mantains me When I saw you In the rain you promised me your blood

I'm not staying in my life The dark mantains me When I saw you In the rain you promised me your blood I'm not staying

Morning star Ismael I am pursuiting you And if I end living wingless even though I'm dying for you

That's the best I could do, I don't speak spanish 100%, so corrections are welcome, this song is hard to translate because it doesn't make much sense at first sight...well...hope this helps =)

Sounds like some sort of pact with the devil idea here. I'm no deep TMV expert but it sounds like he is telling the devil he is going to kill himself and that he is going to hell.

    -Jonny"

Samael is rarely used as reference to satan, hes listed int eh same sphere of demons and etc there were kicked out of heaven but not satan himself. and in hebrew literature hes refered to as either the prince of demons, or the angel of death. not satan.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
