Enfermo llegue
y para componerme ando de vago
No me des tu obediencia

yo no me quedo

Y ya que caiste de este mundo
cargo una navaja
dios mio
para ti
Cuantas veces me mordiste
y cuantas veces yo me fui

yo no me quedo

Estrella de la mañana
Ismael te persigo a ti
y si me quedo sin alas
ademas me muero por ti

Estrella de la mañana
Ismael te persigo a ti
y si me quedo sin alas
ademas me muero por ti

Estrella de la mañana
Ismael te persigo a ti
y si me quedo sin alas
ademas me muero por ti

Estrella de la mañana
Ismael te persigo a ti
y si me quedo sin alas
ademas me muero por ti

Estrella de la mañana
Ismael te persigo a ti
y si me quedo sin alas
ademas me muero por ti

My Interpretation:I don't know if anyone actually corrected you people, but I figured I'd put in my two cents. This song is based on an actual person, a possessed nun, whom Cedric read about in a newspaper somewhere. She was being held in an actual mental institution called Asilos Magdalena. The beginning of the song is speaking from her viewpoint, but Cedric is also relating himself to her, feeling possessed and unclean through drug use and dishonesty. The chorus is the nun speaking to Samael, saying that she is consumed by the darkness/the dark one, and when they met in the rain, she was promised eternal life through evil. She DIDN'T stay. The second verse is not her abandoning God, but rather crying out for His help, asking why she has been abandoned when she has carried a sword in His name for so long, through so many hardships. She is finding it hard to keep her faith, and has pretty much given up by the end of the second verse, feeling abandoned and hopeless, sleeping in Hell for Hell is the only apparent truth with this lack of holy guidance. By the end of the song is saying that she is following, or more so hunting, Samael, and if she dies possessed, evil, then that's how it's going to be. Just my opinion based on interviews I've read with Cedric about the content of the entire album.

    Translation:Sick, I arrived
and to recuperate, i'm being a "wild child" (vago is a difficult word to translate)
Do not give me your obediance
because i'll show you my body of mud
of where my skin is weak
with a hunger that won't let me sing

    In my life
    the darkness maintains me
    when I saw you
in the rain you, promised me your blood
    I will not stay

    In my life
    the darkness maintains me
    when I saw you
in the rain you, promised me your blood
    I will not stay

and now that you fell off of this world
    I carry a knife
    my god, for you
how many times did you bite me? (asking like if the person already knows)
and how many times did I leave?

and now i'm not in love
    with your lies
    hell makes me sleep
because hell is the only truth

    In my life
    the darkness maintains me
    when I saw you
in the rain you, promised me your blood
    I will not stay

    In my life
    the darkness maintains me
    when I saw you
in the rain you, promised me your blood
    I will not stay

    (X5)
    Star of the Morning
    Samael I follow you
and if I remain with nothing
    moreso, I die for you

General Comment:I've studied Satanism a lot before and listened to a lot of Black Metal. To me, this song is about Magdalena, giving up God and joining Satan, as Samael is a very common name for him in the Satanistic views. Anyways, this song is a masterpiece.. I love it.. so smooth..

Lyric Correction: Is actually Samael te persigo a ti. Samael is an archangel of death seduction, both good and evil... Is quite common in Hispanic cultures to pray to saints and angels.

General Comment:I love you all so much for providing conversational translations. <3
I've been listening to this song for at least an hour straight now. It's beautiful on so many levels. It's so hard not to fall in love with the Mars Volta's music.

General Comment:another point, satan doesnt want obedience, as yahve, but freedom, enlightment or wisdom (frome ther LUCERO, which is the morning star and a roman demigod), and lustfulness (if thats the word for it).

General Comment:Actually you would have to translate "el oscuro me mantiene" as "the dark one keeps me/maintains me", because Darkness's translation would be "la oscuridad"

i think, that probably the story about mary magdalene trying to go back to satan is the right one.......

Samael is one of the angels of satan, spuose ti lilith, adans first wife who fled paradise to copulate with demons. and LUCERO is the name given to satan, as he who enlightens....

General Comment:Several things that have not been said yet:

"Para componerme ando de vago" has a lot of meaning. Literally it translates to "To fix myself, I became a bum / I have been wandering" or something along these lines, however in Spanish it gives you a strong image of a man who has forsaken his duties, responsibilities, purpose or whatever and has been drinking, doing drugs, women, living at night, etc, in order to "fix himself". This is how it should be interpreted.

Also, "ando de vago" and "ya no estoy enamorado" clearly state that the narrator is male. No question.

Lastly, "Samael, te persigo a tí" has a distinctive structure which is best translated as "Samael, it is you the one I am after".

    Beautiful song.

General Comment:I know this has nothing to do with the actual lyrics for the song but I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. I learned this song on guitar and i would sing and make up lyrics since I cannot speak Spanish. But i would always make up lyrics about witch burning. I'm not sure why but the guitar work to this song reminds me of a man watching his unholy lover being burned on the cross
