And you said it would be funny
to keep me hanging in suspense,
then I'd run over to your house
and I'd scale the chain link fence
that, borders your back yard
and that I'd climb through your window
and I'd whisper that I love you
as you fall out of your clothes
And we'd lay there in the darkness
like the dream of you I had
where we captured all the fireflies
and we knew what time we had
could be counted on our finger tips
that almost made you cry
you let me hold you tightly
as we said all our goodbyes
may I say I loved you more
may I say I loved you more
and It must have been an hour
that I clutched you in my arms
and I must of said the the right things
because you instantly felt warm
and you heard my heart stop beating
and you wanted not to cry
as your sympathetic whispers
they told a tale of bad goodbyes
and you swore you say me laughing
and I swore I saw you smile
and this time we spent together
has got to last us quite awhile
as I take this piece of you with me
I'll carry it to my grave
knowing that for someone you're an angel sent to save
(Keep breathing my angel, if you go down I go down with you)
may I say I loved you more
(keep breathing, just keep breathing)
may I say I loved you more
lets drink to the memorys that we shared
down one to all the hopes and cares
heres too for being unaware, that your gone
because before too long you'll be a memory
lets drink to the memories that we shared
(before too long you'll be a memory)
down one to all the hopes and cares
(because before too long you'll be a memory)
heres too for being unaware
(I said before too long you'll be a memory)
that your gone
I said before too long you'll be a memory
to keep me hanging in suspense,
then I'd run over to your house
and I'd scale the chain link fence
that, borders your back yard
and that I'd climb through your window
and I'd whisper that I love you

First its fictional, it is not about any of the band members, as they have said over and over almost all their songs are fictional they just express the emotions given in this fictional event.
Second I would like to add that the song is amazingly beautiful and for all those that stated this was a song about the last time 2 people got to have sex should just be hit by a truck you never actually must have listened to the song.
The true meaning is about feelings expressed for a love one that died in a car accident and that boyfriend/girlfriend being there to hold the person as they pass the the feeling shared in that moment. If you actually listen to the song its spot on. Nothing more, nothing less. Its about having to say goodbye when it wasn't supposed to be done.
The huge rumor that did circulate was that Jake Bundrick ( he is the drummer since most of you obviously aren't mayday fans and just trolling ) wrote this song due to a long time highschool girlfriend died in a drunk driving accident and this was a tribute, if that is true or not will never be known as the band has stated multiple times its a fictional song.
Now for the trolling people that want to argue this u can fine it on youtube, specifically I remember an interview with Alex Garcia ( again he is the lead guitar ) talking about this.
Sorry if I sound angry only because this song has done alot for alot of people that have had this happen to them and half these responses were unbelievably insulting, you all have your own opinions sure but use so kind of god damn logic.
Anyway, peace, bud. It's an awesome song either way and should be a whole lot better known.
This is what it interpretated it as:
And you thought it would be funny to keep me hanging in suspense
Then I'd run over to your house and I'd scale the chainlink fence
That borders your back yard and then I'd climb through your window
And I'd whisper that I love you as you fall out of your clothes
(They're flirting and she convinces him to come over to her house and they have sex.)
And we'd lay there in the darkness like this dream of you I had
Where we captured all the fireflies and knew what time we had
Could be counted on our fingertips and that almost made you cry
But you let me hold you tightly as we said all our goodbyes
(They savor this night as though it's their last)
May I say I loved you more
(He tells her how much he loves her)
And it must've been an hour that I clutched you in my arms
And I must have said the right things because you instantly felt warm
And you heard my heart stop beating and you wanted not to cry
As your sympathetic whispers they told a tale of bad goodbyes
(Between this verse and when it says 'May I say I loved you more' the boy gets in a car accident with a drunk driver, the band has stated this is what the song revolves around. The girl is holding him trying to bring him back to life. He dies and she tries to be strong and not cry and whispers that she loves him.)
You swore you heard me laughing and I swore I saw you smile
As the time we've spent together was meant to last us quite a while
As I take this piece of you with me I'll carry to my grave
And knowing that for someone you're an angel sent to save
(She flashes back to the times they had together. He, in his subconscious, will always remember her andlove her.)
Keep Breathing my angel, if you go down I go with you
May I saw I loved you more
(She doesn't have the will to live now that he's gone)
So let's drink to memories we shared
Down one for all the hopes and cares
Here's too for being unaware that you're gone
Because before too long you'll be a memory
(She tries to drown the pain away with alchohol and knows eventually he'll only be a memory and she'll move on)
Extremely well writen part and the ending always leaves me in tears.
And, "It must have been an hour, that I clutched you in my arms. And I must have said the right things, because you instantly felt warm" is refering to the person who has passed being dead, because dead people are cold? And the bridge is refering to the person being in disbelief that the person's actually gone and drinking because that's how some people handle depression to make the dilusion more real, maybe.
I don't know. Just winging it.
"Keep breathing my angel (may i say i loved you more)"
if only.
the song is actually about a loved one dying, and it's half fictional
and half real. it's really sad and tragic.:/
i know this for a fact because of an interview with alex, but also there
are a TON of things to clue you in.
i shall list them:
"and knew what time we had could be counted on your fingertips, and
that almost made you cry, but you let me hold you tightly as we said
all our goodbyes."
it's like they knew that they didn't have much time left together and
he held her closely as they said their goodbyes.
"as this time we've spent together was meant to last us quite a while"
meaning that what time they were able to spend together was meant
to last him for the rest of his life, and her until he was able to join her
in heaven.
"here's two for being unaware that you're gone, because before too long
you'll be a memory."
he didn't know that she was dying, but soon she would be nothing but a
memory.
I recently was in a relationship that ended the exact way I just described, so something makes me think the song could be looked at this way.
I love this song so much. And Mayday Parade, of course :)
It's about a boy and a girl who fall in love, maybe over summer or some kind of break. And now she has to leave again because she lives elsewhere and he knows that before long they aren't gonna last no matter how much he wants it to.
and this time we spent together
has got to last us quite awhile
as I take this piece of you with me
I'll carry it to my grave
So the song is about them spending their last night together and it's very bittersweet
