Such a cool track. They should have opened with it every concert.

The outro of it, I think, is pretty annyoing though... It is the track Demise, that got cut out from the Origin printing.

I LOVE THIS SONG!!! Whenever I hear it I must listen to it, like 3 more times before doing anything else. I love how it's sort of techno mixed with rock and great piano. The rain thing gets to me sometimes, but the piano piece is awesome. The part at the end is really soothing, and a great ending, though I think they could have added vocals on that part.

"the begining sounds like the ending of away from me"

it's the exact same notes. i can't believe this is actually considered a song on a lyric website.

It's a song meaning website, not necessarily a lyric site.
Even instrumental tracks have something behind them.

i listened to the song once again and i think i've kinda put together a meaning for it. i think it has a lot to do with becoming immortal, hence the name "eternal".

the first part is somewhat lively and represents some sort of struggle to gain immortality, or maybe the excitement or wonder you might feel at first when you become immortal. then the second part after the rain kinda deals with "ok now i'm alone so now what do i do for the rest of the time?" and the end just fades out like the rest of eternity is just droning on and on and on... just a theory, but let me know what you all think.

Thats a very interesting insight into the song, I would have never seen it that way.
Anyway, I personaly like how the guitar comes in right around 1.38sec. Thats my favorite part of the song.

You are correct in that the beginning of 'Eternal' is the same as the ending of 'Away From Me'. If you listen to techno/electronica music (not that I'm by any means an expert) there are sometimes entire albums in which all the tracks are mixed to continually blend into each other. Gah, I can't remember the correct term...continual blend/mix or something like that. This is the effect being used to connect 'Away From Me' and 'Eternal'.

Also, I did love it...amazing visuals of a gloomy, dark rose garden at night with a girl in a white dress, in the rain...

This song is amazingly beautiful.
The middle reminds me of gentle rain.

The paino bit at the beginning is amazing. I love pianos, I don't know why. The crash of thunder in the middle nearly gives me a heart attack everytime - you'd think I'd be used to it now that I know it's coming, but no! So yeah ... the sound of the rain is really soothing, but I don't like the end because it sounds really ... flat? I don't know if that's the right word for it, but it sounds very dark and almost lethargic. To me, anyway. Not sure if that's what everyone gets ... And this was used for 'Away From Me'? Now I've gotta go check :)

"the begining sounds like the ending of away from me"

it's the exact same notes.".

- That's because the last track on Origin was originally supposed to be 'Away from me', Eternal, Listen To The Rain, and Demise all in one track- i think thats the order, let me just listen to it one more time...

... yeah, that's right. Seperate or together- the most beautiful instrumental piece I've ever heard.

This probably sounds off the wall to a lot of people, but..

for me and some other people with bipolar disorder or borderline personality disorder that I've spoken to, it represents the cycle of our manic/raging periods and the aftermath.
First part: manic, raging, impulsive, hyper, 'invincible', picking fights, burning bridges

Second part: the come down, the realization of what we've done and where we are, who we are, what is wrong with us. the soul searching part. Rain represents despair to me. This is the part of the inevitable downturn that comes from destructive phases like before.

Third part: The dissociative part. the depersonalization part. at this stage, we "numb out", feel empty, don't feel much of anything. we just exist. stare at the wall. we don't feel human anymore, our minds have shut down. they call it a coping mechanism for too much pain, and it probably is.

this probably means something very different to everyone else but it's really close to my heart, although I'm pretty sure that the band didn't intend it that way.

This song is like a story to me. Here's how I hear it:

Part 1: It's about humans living in a world full of craziness and mistakes. A divine being watches all of the life and happiness of the world from Heaven and is saddened and pleased. He's happy that humans are so full of energy but sad that it causes them to get hurt.

Part 2: There is a human child who prays for redemption from her sins and from her painful life. She begs to be taken to heaven rather than to be made to suffer, yet her purity and ability to love without prejustice inspire the God and make him remember that the creations of humans (by Him or another force) was not a mistake. Therefore, she lives.

Part 3: The girl finally washes her hands of her miserable life and she takes off, going someplace where the God cannot reach her, like to another land under the jurisdiction of another God. He's left staring at the remaining people apathetically and withdrawing from them by not listening to their outcries and hymns anymore. He just watches time pass and anticipate the death of man.

That's how I see it.
