We've been in a complicated situation for quite some time now and I really want to be that girl that makes his whole life change in a good way.

i think the song is about someone who was in a relationship, but then it ended for whatever reason, but then the guy begins to reminisce about how he was before he met the girl, then realizes how much she helped to change his life. (made this assumption from the chorus 'just when i think im invincible, you come and happen to me')
and now i think hes trying to let her know how much she changed him and made him a better person.

I love those lyrics so much. Kinda like the guy thinking that he'll never be in love, and that he'd never feel that way, but then he meets a girl and she manages to change his perceptions and stuff.

It's like the guy is changing himself for the better because he's found a reason to. He's trying to show the girl that she brings out the best in him.
Love this song, kinda feel the same way myself. I've never really changed or been a sentimental person but like as of late, I have been and it's so new to me. I'm not used to loving and being loved in return.. Like.. I'm changed so much for the better recently and it's solely because of this one person.
