I spy with my little eye something that begins with 'I don't care',
That this song, has a melody.
Or that the beats are not complex,
I'm just trying to make you sing,
And not be perplexed.
It doesn't mean any less.

Face, in a crowd.
If you don't care then why are you singing out?
Face, in a crowd.
If you don't care then why are you singing out?
Why are you singing out?

And I spy with my little eye something that begins with 'I have just',
I have just begun to realise.
Put on my favourite song,
Forgot this style instructs you to sing aloud
Why don't you sing along?

It goes,
Face, in a crowd.
If you don't care then why are you singing out?
Face, in a crowd.
If you don't care then why are you singing out?
And I can hear you singing,
La la la la la la la la la laaa,
You're singing,
La la la la la laa.

It doesn't matter that this song has a simple tune,
Even though it's not what I'm supposed to do,
What I'm supposed to do,
What I'm supposed to doooo,
What I'm supposed to doooo...

It doesn't matter that this song has a simple tune,
Even though it's not what I'm supposed to do,
What I'm supposed to do.

And can you hear me going?
La la la la la la la la la laaa,
La la la la la la la la la laaa,

Now it doesn't matter that this song has a simple tune,
Even though it's not what I'm supposed to do,
What I'm supposed to do.

General Comment:Those lyrics up there are WRONG, so that may be leading some misconception. The lyrics say:

And I spy with my little eye something that begins with 'I have just',
I have just begin to realize.
    That all my favorite songs
Regardless of style or structure are sing alongs.
    Why don't you sing along?

I get the feeling Sam is not a natural song writer, more of a passionatly driven intellectual.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    - it sure seems that way

General Comment:I wonder where the pressure to write songs with meaning comes from? 'What I'm supposed to do'?

General Comment:In my opinion it is simply saying that this is a song without a hidden depth- I think that is the whole point of the song, saying why does every song have to have a meaning, why can't it just be a song? Anyway everyone is welcome to their own opinion I think.

General Comment:I do not think that there is one definitive meaning to any one song. Music/Lyrics all mean something different to all of us, it's how we perceive it. Could be about love, celebrities, complications, etc. But really it's what the music means to us personally.

General Comment:this song, according to sam duckworth is about how the media & celebrities have so much power, but they're not creating a good image about themselves, and making themselves a bad influence for listeners/watchers of themselves. he's trying to make them be more conscious about their effects on the world.
