(Spoken:
This song goes like this.
And I might mess it up again, but...bare with me.)
Daddy please hear this song that I sing
In your heart there's a spark that just screams
For a lover to bring a child to your chest that could lay as you sleep
And love all you have left like your boy used to be
Long ago wrapped in sheets warm and wet
Blister please with those wings in your spine
Love to be with a brother of mine
How he'd love to find your tongue in his teeth
In a struggle to find secret songs that you keep wrapped in boxes so tight
Sounding only at night as you sleep
In my dreams you're alive and you're crying, as your mouth moves in mine soft and sweet, rings of flowers around your eyes and I'll love you for the rest of your life
You will see.
Brother, please, we are one in the same
And you left with your head filled with flames
And you watched as your brain fell out through your teeth
Push the pieces in place
Make the scar sweet to see
Don't you take this away
I'm still wanting your face on my cheek
And when we break we'll wait for our miracle
God is a place where some holy spectacle lies
And when we break we'll wait for our miracle
God is a place you will wait for the rest of your life
Two headed boy she is all you could need
She will feed you tomatoes and radio wires
And retire to sheets safe and clean
But don't hate her when she gets up to leave

I can't get over how logical this sounds.
Just because you guys listen to Neutral Milk Hotel doesn't make you a qualified critic. And just because somebody covered a band as great as Neutral Milk Hotel, doesn't make them moronic or the effort a waste of time. There's no need to be so small about this subject. Give it a rest, the world needs less useless shit like this and more harmony. I don't think you'll find an artist out there who asks his or her fans to dismantle anyone who covers their song. You don't even have to listen to it, just leave it alone. And just because you connect with a song doesn't make you the fucking know-it-all. I absolutely love Neutral Milk Hotel, their two LP's changed my life, but I'm not about to go hunt down anybody who either doesn't like it or tries to play it.
It's too easy to be somebody on the internet, you're not getting enough practice in, in the real world. I can sit here all day and play "cool guy who knows it all" and you can sit where ever you are all day and act like the jerk who hates everything. But if we ever met in person I can be sure that neither of us would be anything like this.
"whats the point in pouring it all out
when you guys just wear it on your coat?
i believe that for this piece of time
we can really crank us up a lot
get your head out from those mags
and websites who try to
shape your style
take a risk just for yourself
and wade into the deep end of the ocean"

Actually, speaking of NMH, that happens to be one of the few bands whose covers
are good. (And the meat puppets as played by Nirvana)
looks like another critic who probably doesn't even know how to carry a proper tune is wasting their time commenting a song they don't even like, probably listening to All American rejects and Simple plan.
If you would like I'll make you a play list so you can drench your ears in filth shit like Good Charlotte? I bet to you that's real music.
jess laceys voice is nowhere near terrible
he has an amazing and very distinct voice
noone else has a voice like his.
i love NHM and this is a very good cover
the only thing i dont like is how jesse lacey changed
the lyrics a bit, other than that brand new is the best band ever. =]
It's a God awful cover.
I am not making this comment due to the fact that I have been a long time NMH fan, but this man's voice (Jesse, apparently?) is just terrible!
