One, two, one, two, three

Me and all my friends
We're all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing and
There's no way we ever could
Now we see everything that's going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don't have the means
To rise above and beat it

So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

It's hard to beat the system
When we're standing at a distance
So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would have never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door
And when you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want

That's why we're waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

It's not that we don't care
We just know that the fight ain't fair
So we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

And we're still waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

One day our generation
Is gonna rule the population
So we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
No we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change.

General Comment:I really like this song and it is very true. I want to change the world, but I don't know how so I'm just wait for it to change itself. I will, though, try to help in ways I can/

General Comment:A little repetitive, but a great song. If you like this you should look at other stuff in Continuum. This is what got me started off liking John Mayer, and now I like the other songs in Continuum even better.

General Comment:I like this song because I think it reflects how some of my friends and I feel about the state of the world today (mid-20somethings). Because we know just waiting isnt going to do anything, but we've inherited a world which from where we are standing seems too hard to fix. There is a sort of anxiety within us from seeing all the suffering on tv (and all the suffering that is hidden), we just don't know to go about it, so we just wait. Not the best idea, but I like how it's expressed in this song. We do care, but we need to try to understand ourselves and the situation we're in too, because we will rule the population, eventually.

General Comment:Somehow.. I dont get the feeling that the song is political.. I agree on there being a message.. and that too soo subtle .. that anyone that ever thought songs were more than music will get the message.. To me.. the song talks about each generation.. How every generation waits its turn to change the world.. also how every generation faces the same problems but yet solutions differ.. and history will let you know that in each generation the solution to any problem only lasts that generation.. I dont want to (just like mayer) bad mouth any generation.. because they have all accepted and changed the world they only way they know.. now the next generation is standing up.. but waiting.. waiting for its turn to make what they feel is wrong, to what they feel is right.

General Comment:The first couple of times I heard this song, I thought that he was saying that all we can do is wait for the world to change.

However, I now get it. It's saying: stop waiting! it's all like sarcasm or something. If everyone just says that the "fight aint fair" and just waits for it to change, then everything is just going to get worse. We need to stop thinking that there's nothing we can do, and get together and change the world!

General Comment:wow. i love this song. i listen to it al least once a day. his lyrics are so real and true, nothing fake about them. i think its crazy how true he is in this very song. all we do is sit there and wait, but nothing is going to happen unless someone does something. wars will keep raging, people will keep dying. nothing will be better. i think we should just play this song everywhere and maybe it will get through everyone's heads.
