Day to day Where do you want to be? 'Cause now you're trying to pick a fight With everyone you need You seem like a soldier Who's lost his composure You're wounded and playing a waiting game In no man's land, no one's to blame See the world, find an old fashioned girl And when all's been said and done It's the things that are given, not won Are the things that you earned Empty handed Surrounded by a senseless scene With nothing of significance Besides a shadow of a dream You sound like an old joke You want out, a bit broke And askin me time and time again And the answer's still the same See the world, find an old fashioned girl And when all's been said and done It's the things that are given, not won Are the things that you earned You've got a chance to put things right So how's it going to be? Lay down your arms now And put us beyond doubt So reach out it's not too far away Don't mess around now, don't delay See the world, find an old fashioned girl And when all's been said and done It's the things that are given, not won Are the things that you earned The things that you earned Are given, not won The things that you earned Are given, not won

General Comment:Oh my god! I totally also commented on this song solely because it was featured on House! It's far from their best.

Song Meaning:Firstly, there is a mistake in the lyrics, the second line is:
Cause now you're trying to pick a fight with everyone you meet

As far as the meaning of the song, it is basically an open letter to the United States.

General Comment:Haha I'm on here because I heard it from House TOO. That's amazing. Yeah I've heard this on the radio once or twice, and I'm glad I finally sat down to give the lyrics a look-over. I like hethsk8ter's idea of the song because if that's really what the song is about, it'll give me the hopeful feeling I'm looking for whenever I hear it. If that makes sence =P

Great song though. It's catchy :D

General Comment:Oh, my God. This song is so amazing. I was also introduced to Gomez through House, and they're so awesome. This song PERFECTLY represents the meaning that House held in its first three seasons. Season four, however, is questionable, but we'll see.

General Comment:I only found this band when I bought the House MD soundtrack due to my...somewhat unhealthy obsession with House haha, but this song is absolutely beautiful.

General Comment:People say I'm obsessed, I think I'm just entertained. By the show; I stopped talking about the song.

General Comment:"You want out the bed broken".. I think this is "You're worn out, a bit broken". I really love this song, and the video is a great suggestion to what it's about.. influenced by the video, I think it's about needing to get out of your surroundings, away from everyone you know, and just explore and rediscover yourself. Live outside your comfort zone and try things.
