Tom araya had even said that the band doesn't even believe half of the shit they song about. They do controversal songs like these cause they know it appeals to the gay crowd that actually likes slayer :l personally I still think seasons in the abyss was they're last great album
. I think that they abuse the anti Christian themes way too much .
As for Tom being Christian or Catholic, I don't think it's true. He said that he has a Catholic "religious background," which doesn't surprise me at all. He's quoted in saying that he believes Jesus Christ wanted to spread a message of love, and that he believes in a loving supreme being, but that doesn't mean he adheres to any organized doctrines.
