Iv heard two versions of this song, one where the chorus line is "the red flag waving never meant the same" and the other where the chorus line is "we dont need them". Odd, the former is on the album i have, the latter on the soundtrack to Burnout Revenge

this song is about the mistakes people made. Eg the sins of yesterday refer to the destruction of the ozone layer rainforests ect.

The red flag symbolizes how teens need to standup and let their voices being heard.
They're saying how teens get these rediculous rules, we need those rules just like
'Light a fire Don't need water. Like a jury Needs a liar. Like a riot Don't need order. Like a madman Needs a martyr."
We don't need them, we don't need those rules, we can take care of ourselves, let us showyou wrong. Its about rebellion.
