Who shot that arrow in your throat?
Who missed the crimson apple?
It hung heavy on the tree above your head

This chaos, this calamity
This garden once was perfect
Give your immortality to me
I'll set you up against the stars

Gloria, we lied, we can't go on
This is the time and this is the place to be alive

Who shot that arrow in your throat?
Who missed the crimson apple?
And there is discord in the garden tonight

The sea is wine red
This is the death of beauty
The doves have died, the lovers have lied

I cut the arrow from your neck
Stretched you beneath the tree
Among the roots and Baby's Breath
I covered us with silver leaves

Gloria, we lied, we can't go on
This is the time and this is the place to be alive

The sea is wine red
This is the death of beauty
The doves have died, the lovers have lied (x2)

The sea is wine red
(Gloria, we lied)
This is the death of beauty
(This is the time and place)
The doves have died
(Gloria, we lied)
The lovers have lied
(This is the time and place)

My Interpretation:ok, so, basically what i believe it is saying is that there is perfection in life, but there are also mistakes and betrayal. Due to the betrayal/mistakes perfection is lost and the only way to get it back is to cover it up as a way of distraction from the mistake so people are none the wiser. As a result, perfection is only achieved by the perfect, but mistakes are made and perfection is lost, never to be found again by the mortal man (or women) and life as you knew it is forever gone into the past.

My Interpretation:I interpret this song in many ways, the lines "This garden once was perfect
Give your immortality to me" and "The sea is wine red
This is the death of beauty
The doves have died, the lovers have lied" remind me of the bible, while "Who shot that arrow in your throat?
    Who missed the crimson apple?
It hung heavy on the tree above your head" reminds me of William Tell.

General Comment:Ok the verses to the song are definitely about adam and eve (as much as I would like to think they are not at all christian rock... they are a little).

The chorus however, I don't get much sense of religion in that. Greta is a very environmentally friendly person. Wine red ocean??? dumping waste and disgusting crap in there is the death of beauty. She is telling us that treating our planet so badly is making the death of beauty.

I think Adam and Eve are involved in the song because they lived in a perfect, beautiful garden where nothing could be ugly (I think. I grew up religionless so I am not at all an expert on Adam and Eve). They destroyed their perfect world by eating the apple (Why god loves apples and won't share I have no idea) and now we are destroying our world with pollution. The song parallels Adam and Eve leaving the garden of eden to pollution, global warming, etc.

General Comment:I think i know what it's talking about when it says "who missed the crimson apple"
in the olden days friends used to do a ' trust test'. one person had to stand up against a tree with an apple on their head while the other person shot an arrow through the apple...

i think maybe the song is about betrayed trust and how nothing looks beautiful and innocent anymore. i think it's using holy references to show the scale of the betreyal to the person?

Song Meaning:i don't think that it's about the bible at all... sure, it has some reference, but to me it's about a couple that we're going great "this garden once was perfect", but then he did something wrong and lied "who shot that arrow in your throat? who missed that crimson apple? it hung heavy on the tree above your head" but she helped him "I cut the arrow from your neck," and she covered it to make them look good "I covered us with silver leaves"
but now their relationship (the sea) is ruined "the sea's wine red" their love has ended "the doves have died, the lovers have lied"
i'm probably waaaaaay off, but somehow i don't think it's about the bible at all... the gloria and give your immortality to me is very confusing though =S

General Comment:Okay. My interpretation is totally different. I have nothing against religion, but I don't go to church. Which probably explains a lot. And for all u very religious people, I do still love and believe in God. But anyway, here is what I think:

The arrow is the symbol of being quiet, untrustworthy, or tongue-tied. She cuts it from his throat because she wants to talk with him and get to know him. It was put in his throat by a past lover that did him wrong.
    "Give your immortality to me
Ill set you up against the stars"
Means that he should trust her
    that she will respect him

The repeated section that the guy sings (Im a huge fan of Hush Sound but I still don't know the names)
is saying that people lie and cant be trusted. Even we lied.

"This is the time and this is the place to be alive"

Means that he is afraid to trust.

"The sea is wine red" blood of those who have tried before

My Interpretation:I agree it has biblical references, but I think the biblical references are as supports for a different meaning not Implying the idea of Adam and Eve, It's using a story most know to convey images of What is happening. tho I feel Its conveying a failed Martyr, the martyr comes from "The sea is wine red" Referencing The last supper (I know Jesus did not fail I am not bashing the bible). the martyr sacrifices his "immortality"("Give your immortality to me") then after the Martyr sacrifices his "Immortality", The second Voice says "Gloria, we lied, we can't go on This is the time and this is the place to be alive". ""Gloria, we lied" This second voice is telling the first voice "Gloria" how they lied to the martyr and cant go on. when ever the first voice speaks (Gloria) she is saying how someone else inflicted pain upon the martyr and how she was the one who helped him. when both of the voices speak together "The sea is wine red This is the death of beauty The doves have died, the lovers have lied" it is penance for the pain the martyr suffers and the act of causing him to be a martyr("The sea is wine red)."This is the death of beauty The doves have died, the lovers have lied" this is the acknowledgment of the how the martyr failed.

General Comment:personally i think this song refers to the odyssey...
there is that famous scene where odysseus strings his bow and shoots alcinous in the neck in the courtyard (garden) and the lovers have lied, odysseus slept with others (circe, calyspo, ect.)but this is the reunion of them

My Interpretation:Who shot that arrow in your throat?
    Who missed the crimson apple?
It hung heavy on the tree above your head

    - the first two questions are for consciences of Adam and Eve
for they had just eaten what was forbidden.
Apple was hung heavy on the tree
It was heavy for its price of sin

    This chaos, this calamity
    This garden once was perfect
    Give your immortality to me
I'll set you up against the stars

    - The original sin brought the chaos into the garden
it was the perfect garden made by God
Because they did what they were not supposed to do
they were set up against the stars which means that they are not against the fate

Gloria, we lied, we can't go on
This is the time and this is the place to be alive

    - They lied and the price for sin is death
It is the grief of people who inherited the original sin

Who shot that arrow in your throat?
    Who missed the crimson apple?
And there is discord in the garden tonight

    - there are questions again for conscience and to remind what they did
There was a disagreement between Adam and Eve about who ate the apple first

    The sea is wine red
This is the death of beauty
The doves have died, the lovers have lied

    - The wine red sea represents the blood of christ which saved human being from sin
    He died to save us
    His death was beautiful
When he was hung on the cross, disciples, lovers of God, lied and seemed like peace was over

I cut the arrow from your neck
    Stretched you beneath the tree
Among the roots and Baby's Breath
I covered us with silver leaves

    - right after the blood part the the lyrics
it says that 'I cut the arrow from your neck'
it means that he took the sins away from us and we are clean again
He pulled us from the hell down the ground and trees
among all the harships and innocences
he was the silver leaves which can save us and which was the way
I also think that Baby's breath represents the baby jesus

Gloria, we lied, we can't go on
This is the time and this is the place to be alive

    - they lied, and we could not go on
it was the place for us to live

    The sea is wine red
This is the death of beauty
The doves have died, the lovers have lied (x2)

    - Jesus died for us and we are whole again

    The sea is wine red
    (Gloria, we lied)
This is the death of beauty
(This is the time and place)
    The doves have died
    (Gloria, we lied)
    The lovers have lied
(This is the time and place)
