He kept a cold exterior and didn't let anyone get close, despite the fact that so many tried, but she wasn't like the last one.

Idk if it's surreal or so so real, but either way, his emotions are very real, but they are so foreign and strange. He has so many mistakes and problems in his past and he doesn't understand why she even bothers with him. Maybe its bad relationships, maybe its drugs, the person this song reminds me of had both of those and a stay in prison. But he's not gonna lie about the fact that he's so caught up with her.
