I can't get to bed
But I'm really tired
The things in my head
You used to admire
In your sundrenched world
It couldn't be worse
Don't bother asking
And here comes the nurse
While I'm trying to bask
In your sundrenched world
I'm talking to you
But you're not listening
I don't know what to do
My heart is blistering
Writing this song
Tell me I'm not wrong
I close up my mouth
When you're around now
Suffocating in doubt
I can't make a sound
In your sundrenched world
I always wanted to be
The one you looked to
For the answers in me
I'm the one who took you
To your sundrenched world
I'm talking to you
But you're not listening
I don't know what to do
My heart is blistering
Writing this song
Tell me I belong
It's all been said
Once before
We fucked around
On your bedroom floor
I'm talking to you
But you're not listening
I don't know what to do
My hands are blistering
Writing this song
Tell me I belong
Tell me I belong
Tell me I
Tell me I belong
But I'm really tired
The things in my head
You used to admire
In your sundrenched world
It couldn't be worse
Don't bother asking
And here comes the nurse
While I'm trying to bask
In your sundrenched world
I'm talking to you
But you're not listening
I don't know what to do
My heart is blistering
Writing this song
Tell me I'm not wrong
I close up my mouth
When you're around now
Suffocating in doubt
I can't make a sound

So the meaning is; He has given her all the love she needs in the world and she just gives him a cold sholder and that makes him think and he is going insane from lack of love from the one he loves.
I can't get to bed
But I'm really tired
The things in my head
You used to admire He is laying in bed thiking off all that
In your sundrenched world he has given her. She used to love him for his
It couldn't be worse way of beeing , becasue that gave her strength.
Don't bother asking And now he is at the hospital and she dont even care.
And here comes the nurse and whild he is laying there trying to sleep the nurses.
While I'm trying to bask and interrupts his way of being with her again... in
In your sundrenched world his head. thats the only way he can have her now.
I'm talking to you
But you're not listening He is trying to explain to her how he feels and he cant
I don't know what to do reatch her heart. she keeps shothing him out.
My heart is blistering That makes him hurt. He is trying to get hes feelings
Writing this song down on paper, and he hoped she gets it.
Tell me I'm not wrong
I close up my mouth
When you're around now
Suffocating in doubt When they meet after he is out side the hospital, he feels like
I can't make a sound he is wort5h nothing at all. And he is afraid if he talks she is
In your sundrenched world hate him. And he still wants to be the one she truns to for
I always wanted to be comfort and help. She once needed him , but when he took her
The one you looked to up and abowe she dont need him anymore.
For the answers in me
I'm the one who took you
To your sundrenched world
It's all been said
Once before He has said everything to he and she know that so she gives him
We fucked around a fuck goodbye.
On your bedroom floor
Their relationship is constantly changing.
In the beginning they were good friends ("You used to admire"). They played with the idea of being more ("we fucked around"), but decided against it. He later realizes that he DOES want more, but she doesn't ("But you're not listening"). Now things just feel wrong. He wants to be more for her than she wants ("I always wanted to be The one you looked to").
'I can't get to bed
But I'm really tired
The things in my head
You used to admire
In your sundrenched world
It couldn't be worse'
I thought of this as somebody who had somehow ruined his relationship, and he really regrets it but the girls now realised he wasn't as good as she thought he was in her perfect (sundrenched) world. He can't sleep because of how much he misses how she used to think of him.
I'm talking to you
But you're not listening
I don't know what to do
My heart is blistering
Writing this song
Tell me I'm not wrong
then here he is trying to tell her what he feels and how sorry he is, he wants her to tell him that she forgives him and that he's not wrong, but she won't listen to him.
maybe not what anybody else was thinking, but that's one interpretation of it :)
i don't know. that's just how i've always interpreted it.
To me, this song rings incredibly true. For me, the "sundrenched world" is the man's imagination. He created this amazing world for him and the woman he loved to live in. He made it a world where their love was undamaged from the rest of the world. But, she had left one foot in reality, and that is all the monsters of the real world need to drag her out of the "sundrenched world". Now, he has realized that she can no longer hear his words, feel his touch, or feel his presence. Reality has stripped her of her senses and feelings for him.
But, he is too in love to just give in. He asks what it is he can do. Should he try and bring her back to the world he created or is it too late? Should he return as well to reality? Will he belong? This distance has caused their relationship to crumble. Yet, he yearns to fit into her life. He is lost and just wants to be with her.
I think that in the end, he decides that he needs to return to reality to be with the one he loves, whether he will fit in or not. He needs to shed himself of his "sundrenched world" and live.
Again, the story with the coma is probably the origin of the song, as it fits in with Joshua's personal experience, but there are always more than one way to break an egg.
