If I had to
I would put myself right beside you
so let me ask
would you like that?
would you like that?

and I don't mind
if you say this love is the last time
so now I'll ask
do you like that?
do you like that?

No

Something's getting in the way
something's just about to break
I will try to find my place in the diary of Jane
so tell me how it should be

try to find out what makes you tick
as I lie down
soar and sick
do you like that?
do you like that?

there's a fine line between love and hate
and I don't mind
Just let me say that I like that
I like that

Something's getting in the way
something's just about to break
I will try to find my place in the diary of Jane
as I burn another page
as I look the other way
I still try to find my place in the diary of Jane
so tell me how it should be

Desperate, I will crawl
waiting for so long
no love, there is no love
die for anyone
What have I become

Something's getting in the way
something's just about to break
I will try to find my place in the diary of Jane
as I burn another page
as I look the other way
I still try to find my place
In the diary of Jane..

General Comment:i think the girl he loved killed herself and all he has left is the pain and he is trying to find a place in her diary that says she loved him to so he can kill himself and be with her. but all he can find is other men or things about him the she didnt like and he is sickend that he could think of diying for someone. die for anyone what have i become. and the song breath sounds like the girl didnt die right away and he wants her to live. maybe i am reading to much into it but thats my take and because of what hes gone thew he has lost his faith and is conflicted about God also. all his songs seem to tie in together but i'm not great at knowing what songs mean so i could be all wrong.

General Comment:This song is clearly about a guy who is very depressed because he found his girlfriends diary and his name was not in it. There were a lot of other names in it but his wasn't and its making him sick. He tries his best but his best isn't enough but you will never break benjamin-zuk

Memory:I was driving to class one night while listening to this song's acoustic version on their CD and it hit me. i burst into tears as I heard the lyrics on a deeper meaning. There's a girl i've been 'in love' with for years and she just doesn't have the feelings for me. If I had to, i would put myself right beside her. but i know she wouldn't like that.
"as I lie down, sore and sick" is how i would try so hard just to get her to give me a chance, to see the real me, and knowing i've failed i would lay in my bed sick to my stomach
"there's a fine line between love and hate" i would get angry becasue of her unrequited love and hate her for a week or so, then be back to loving her.
"I still try to find my place in the diary of jane" i got to the point where I could accept she didn't want me as her lover but I needed to find my place in her life.
"something's getting in the way, something's just about to break" i'd always feel like maybe tonight she'd give in and just give me a chance, hopefully let me into her heart, but there was always something in the way.
"desperate I will crawl, waiting for so long" i've been 'in love' with her for years, and it seems like the only progress i make is a desperate crawl
"die for anyone, what have i become" this is the line thaat hit me like a ton of bricks. i still cry now when I hear these words. for most of my senior year i highschool i would pray something horrible would happen, like a terrorist came into my class with a gun. I wanted to confront the gunman, and either save the day and be a hero so she'd notice me, or die to end the suffering and misery of my life. I would never commit suicide, i feel it is a signof weakness and i'm not weak. I'd wish for a way to die without killing myself because the pain of not being with the only person i wanted was overwelming me. when I heard these lyrics i realized i've become someone i didn't wish to be. i asked myself "Die for anyone, what have i become?"
The irony is, this girl's name is jane(elle) :)
right now, I've been able to accept not being equally loved and for the first time in a long, long time, i can be her friend and talk to her without getting sick to my stomach, angry, sad, or crying. even as I date other women, i still have feelinga for Janelle, and i try to find my place in the diary of Jane(elle)

General Comment:I could be completely off, but i think this song is about a guy who has been in so many relationships where he is in love with the other person meanwhile the other person has no real feelings for him.

    "If I had to
I would put myself right beside you
    so let me ask
    would you like that?
    would you like that?

    and I don't mind
if you say this love is the last time
    so now I'll ask
    do you like that?
    do you like that?

    No"

Basically hes telling the girl his true feelings and she obviously doesnt feel the same way hence "NO"

"try to find out what makes you tick
    as I lie down
    soaring sick
    do you like that?
    do you like that?

there's a fine line between love and hate
    and I don't mind
Just let me say that I like that
    I like that"

Hes "trying to find out what makes her tick" because he wants this girl to really fall in love with him, but hes soaring sick because she doesnt love him and hes been through it so many times before.

    "Something's getting in the way
    something's just about to break
I will try to find my place in the diary of Jane
    as I burn another page
as I look the other way
I still try to find my place in the diary of Jane
so tell me how it should be"

the chorus is about how hes so sick and tired of never having his feelings returned, yet hes still "trying to find his place in the diary of jane" "Jane" being really a "Jane Doe" because there's been so many relationships like this one that its like a routine and her identity doesnt matter. "as i burn another page" refers to another relationship ending and him moving onto the next girl and he keeps trying because hes desperate.

    "Desperate, I will crawl
    waiting for so long
no love, there is no love
    die for anyone
    What have I become"

Saying that there he is never loved back yet hes been trying so hard and waiting so long. "die for anyone" it seems like he falls in love with almost anyone because hes been through it so many times. He doesnt know what hes become because he doesnt know what to do anymore other than to continue the pattern.

thats just my take on it, may be a long shot

My Interpretation:I actually don’t know if my interpretation fits with these lyrics, but right now I’m on a situation where I can relate with this song.

Some time ago I hooked up with this guy who wants nothing but a purely carnal relationship. I fell in love with him and it hurts knowing that I’d rather be with him in this situation than living without him.

“If I had to I would put myself right beside you. So, let me ask, would you like that? And I don’t mind if you say this love is the last time (we’ve had so many so called ‘last times’, but we know we’ll find each other again) so, now I’ll ask, do you like that?”

“Something’s getting in the way (he has a girlfriend). Something’s just about to break (my heart). I will try to find my place in the diary of Jane (Doe. I’ll explain later why he’s my John Doe). So tell me how it should be”

“Try to find out what makes you tick (what he dislikes about me) as I lay down sore and sick. Do you like that?”

“There’s a fine line between love and hate and I don’t mind. Just let me say that I like that” I don’t care whether he loves me or not as long as he’s with me.

“I will try to find my place in the diary of Jane as I burn another page, as I look the other way” I’m trying to find my way into he’s life, although he doesn’t allow it directly.

“Desperate, I will crawl waiting for so long. No love, there is no love. Die for anyone. What have I become?” At first he was John Doe for me. I didn’t know him that well. He was just some guy in my life who I didn’t care about and I wasn’t like this. I’m not like this. That’s why “Die for anyone. What have I become?”

I’m still trying to find my way into he’s life.

General Comment: Without looking at the other comments, I think the song is about a guy who loves this girl. But he has no idea what she thinks of him. I would assume they're friends and all, but by the "if i had to, i would put myself right beside you." part tells me he wants to be more than just friends with her. Also the song says "As I burn another page, as I look the other way" he's speeding through her diary and making sure no ones watching. "Something's getting in my way, [somethings not letting him achieve his goals] somethings just about to break [He will break through whatever it is if it doesn't let up. Like he's threatening it.]" Well that's what i got out of it.

General Comment:the meaning is really strait foreword but i love the concept of finding your place in someones diary. a diary is so personal and it adds a whole other dimension to the song.

My Interpretation:I think it is about a guy who's girlfriend, that he loved alot, died so now he is going through her diary to see what she wrote about him. "If I had I would put myself right beside you," he is offering to kill himself to be next to her. then the refrain is him going through her diary. "As I try to find my place int the Diary of Jane," he is looking for what she said about him. "Try to find out what makes you tick," he he is reading to try to find out what she likes and dislikes. "There's a fine line between love and hate," she might of said something bad about him and he is saying there is a difference between love and hate. Then the part in the reframe, "As i burn another page, as I look the other way," he is saying that he is finding alot of things she has said about him that are bad or she has done things that are not good so he tries not thing bad about her and then just gets rid of that page so no one else will ever know. then the final part, "Desperate, I will crawl waiting for so long no love, there is no love
die for anyone What have I become," he is wondering how long he will have to wait to die and be with her and he is still willing to die for her but realizes that is wrong. It migt be the best interpratation but hey, I'm new at this.

General Comment:A month or two ago I have a friend who said they like BB and showed me "Breath". I barely remembered it, but a couple days ago this song was used in a video and I liked it. Sure enough it's this band, and I was impressed. The vocalist is very powerful, he started out sounding like a boy-band vocalist but he has that ability to shift into a thrash metal force. The music is incredible as well.

As for the meaning, it's about a guy who's obsessed with a girl (apparently named Jane) and is obsessed with making sure he does something that will make her remember her, whether it's out of love or anger. A little bit more of an original topic, not so "You just broke up with me now i'm gonna cry" type of song.
