I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
but love is not a victory march
it's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

hallelujah...

there was a time when you let me know
what's really going on below
but now you never show that to me, do you?
but remember when I moved in you
and the holy dove was moving, too
and every breath we drew was hallelujah

hallelujah...

General Comment:this cover is absolutely beautiful,
there is something about her voice that makes it sound utterly amazing and it opens so many different meanings to it.

General Comment:I love Imogen Heap's voice I can understand why she did a cover to this song and how it suited Marissas death on the OC. her voice and everything

    STRIPPER!
no. let's not go down that road. it's not about sex, it was written by leonard cohen. the legend. the poet. dont turn beauty into nothing special.

General Comment:Check out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/… for a list of artists who have covered Cohen's song. Unreal. (While Imogen Heap is one of my three favorite artists at this point, I still think John Cale's version is the one to beat -- and yes, I'm rather pissed at Dreamworks about the Cale/Wainwright soundtrack switcheroo.)

As for its meaning, I thought Stylus Magazine had a reasonably good take: stylusmagazine.com/articles/seconds/…

General Comment:Can anyone discuss the meaning of the song? As Im sure everyone else can tell there is a lot of religious symbolism in this song (Not only pertaining to the word hallelujah) anyone agree?

General Comment:I heard Jeff Buckley's version first and I like it the most out of all the one's I've heard, so I suppose I'm biased. This one is pretty stellar, though. Not that it's hard to imagine or anything.. It is Immi, after all.
