Lyrics for Don't Wake Me Up as interpreted by kasandra

Don't Wake Me Up Lyrics
You came to me in seamless sleep
And slipped right in
Behind my eyes
On the back of my mind
We swam a sea of pretty sights
And chandelier skies
I swore I could feel you breathe
It was all so real to me

The light, it slipped through the window
The morning ripped you away oh

Don't wake me up
I am still dreaming
The story's undone
Unravel at the seams

Don't wake me up
Death is misleading
And when I fall asleep
I sleep with a ghost

I moved in the dark
The room calm and cold
The quiet hollow
I am such a haunted soul
Your ghost is gone
The bed is so cold

The light, it slipped through the window
The morning ripped you away oh

Don't wake me up
I am still dreaming
The story's undone
Unravel at the seams

Don't wake me up
Death is misleading
And when I fall asleep
Sleep with a ghost

Oh, you were a fire caught in a storm
Memories like embers keep us warm
You will leave me in the morning
Leave me

The light, it slipped through the window
The morning ripped you away oh

The light, it slipped through the window
The morning ripped you away oh

The light, it slipped through the window
The morning ripped you away oh

hm. I thought it was depth is misleading, because you dream in 3D but its not real.

Such a great song. Basically I think it is about how in dreams you can have whatever you want, but it wont last when the morning takes you back.

Definitely about dreaming about someone who you only get to see in your dreams (maybe they've died or something), and then having to leave them when you wake up in the morning..... I

the melodies in this are fantastic. it sure has a hook and patricks voice in it is perfect!
"dont wake me up, death is misleading..."
powerful. aludes to how death may not be all bad, i mean, u get to sleep for eternity but most of the time all people wanna do is sleep...
just my opinion...

I picture that The Man woke up from his dream where he was helping to Woman. While the Woman waits for him, recollecting at the Lighthouse, The Man frantically trys to get back to sleep.

I knew that was Patrick! Hurrah!

its about a person that had someone very close to them wake up dead....so then she dreams about them but then when the sunlight breakes through the window and woke her up when she was dreaming about that close person....also maybe she writes about her dreams :The story's undone

I ABSOLUTLY LOVE THIS SONG! its totally awsome! i love the lines ... behind my head, on the back of my mind. it just makes me thing that whoever she was dreaming of, she probably didnt expect them. Then found herself dreaming of them... but it was all just a dream and all dissapeared when she woke up to reality. Oh and when the line...the light it slipped through the window, the morning ripped u away..ohh. I love the vocals! and the music in the back.It just makes me want to bang my head! to the rythem...I love the song ! everything about it.

1) Patrick Stump is the man
2) The song is about a close friend of hers who has died (3 close friends of the female singer died in the same year is the story that i heard.) and she only gets to see them in her dreams.

The first verse is just a literal narrative of the dream. The chorus is about being woken up before finishing the dream, but I think what she's implying is that she'll never finish the dream, because she'll always miss the person. The second verse about the fire in the storm could be either two things, either a metaphor, saying the person's life was like a fire caught in a storm, or a literal narration of a dream like the first verse where the person was physically a 'fire caught in a storm' in the dream, which in itself could also be a metaphor for the person in life. Anyway, the beauty of that line is that when a fire is gone, it still has embers that give off warmth, just like when a person passes their memories can still give you happiness.

Beautiful song in every way, amazing band both recorded and live.

I just know this song is about a dream, haha. But I just wanted to comment on how much I love this song. The first time I heard it (yesterday) I was in awe of how amazing Patrick sounded (especially towards the end). That boy... whew! Anyway, it's a great song & I look forward to getting the CD.

actually brendon urie from panic at the disco sings in this song. i personally think that guy is an amazing singer. but yea i think this song is about her having dreams about her dead friend. and when she wakes up the dream is gone. thats why she doens't want to wake up.

No, "panic.with.me" It is patrick stump, brendon urie only sung it live on the summer 2006 tour. After a million listens, its definately patrick...he co-produced the album too.

Yeah I think this a song about only being able to see her deceased friends in dreams, then waking up and their gone. I think when she says "Death is misleading" that it means that her friends aren't dead, their in her dreams. eh idk

I don't associate death as literally someone who has died. I think of as a relationship that died.

it probably is someone who did die, because Greta said that many of her close friends died, and that is what the cd is mainly about
