Lyrics for LDN as interpreted by skacore_dude

LDN Lyrics
Riding through the city on my bike all day
'Cause the filth took away my licence.
It doesn't get me down and I feel ok
'Cause the sights that I'm seeing are priceless.

Everything seems to look as it should,
But I wonder what goes on behind doors.
A fella looking dapper, and he's sittin' with a slapper,
Then I see its a pimp and his crack whore.

You might laugh, you might frown
Walkin' round London town.

Sun is in the sky, oh why oh why
Would I wanna be aywhere else?
Sun is in the sky, oh why oh why
Would I wanna be aywhere else?

When you look with your eyes
Everything seems nice,
But if you look twice
You can see its all lies.

There was a little old lady, who was walkin' down the road
She was struggling with bags from Tesco.
There were people from the city havin' lunch in the park,
I believe that it's called al fresco.

Then a kid came along to offer a hand
But before she had time to accept it
Hits her over the head, doesn't care if she's dead
'Cause he's got all her jewellery and wallet.

You might laugh, you might frown
Walkin' round London town.

Sun is in the sky, oh why oh why
Would I wanna be aywhere else?
Sun is in the sky, oh why oh why
Would I wanna be aywhere else?

When you look with your eyes
Everything seems nice,
But if you look twice
You can see its all lies.

Life, yeah that's city life, yeah that's city life,
Yeah thats city life.
Life, yeah that's city life, yeah that's city life,
Yeah thats city life.

Sun is in the sky, oh why oh why
Would I wanna be aywhere else?
Sun is in the sky, oh why oh why
Would I wanna be aywhere else?
Sun is in the sky, oh why oh why
Would I wanna be aywhere else?
Sun is in the sky, oh why oh why
Would I wanna be aywhere else?

When you look with your eyes
Everything seems nice,
But if you look twice
You can see its all lies.

When you look with your eyes
Everything seems nice,
But if you look twice
You can see its all lies.

Is she really Keith Allen's daughter?
The song is pretty self-explanatory I think, about deception and pretense. I like how the tone of the song reflects the lyrics. Because on first listening it seems pretty happy, but then you listen to the lyrics and its like 'crack whore?' haha. I think the chorus 'but if you look twice..' reflects this.

That's my 2 cents.

I listenned to this SO many times before I decided to look up the lyrics and I was so suprised that it wasnt really just a fun chirpy happy song. But you're right spiderman, the deception of the song just reflects on the lyrics.

This song is obviously about her hometown, London and the shady characters in it. Any girl who finds a rhyme for Tesco gets my vote :D

Whats behind the beautiful facade is very ugly indeed. Happy song with a dark meaning.

Good video for this song which is a literal interpretation of the lyrics.

Yeah, and i also like the fact that despite the fact she has probably never stepped foot in an area of the UK that might carry the title working class she still thinks she can sing about it. Oh except to get her cocaine. How arrogant. This is keith allens daughter the one one who has lead the well to do life never had serious financial problems, went to the same school as Peaches Geldof. And despite the fact she has led such a life protercted from the harsh reality that is life she decides to sing a most condesending song about her twisted interpretation of life. What the fuck would she know?

Reading deankavanagh1234's comment, made me think about the..

"Sun is in the sky, oh why oh why
Would I wanna be aywhere else?"

..bit. I didn't understand it before - I though, well she's just being sarky then, cause she's making where she is sound like crap.

BUT maybe, she's watching this - from a distance - in the knowledge that this is a completely different world from hers....

deankavanagh1234 - probably never? so basically you are just assuming because she has a famous father?
how tipical. just because someone might not live on the 'wrong side of town' doesn't mean they've never been there.

Perhaps the word patronising should have featured in my last comment to account for the twisted reasoning she employs to have you believe all city life consists of is

"But I wonder what goes on behind doors.
A fella looking dapper, and he's sittin' with a slapper,
Then I see its a pimp and his crack whore."

"Then a kid came along to offer a hand
But before she had time to accept it
Hits her over the head, doesn't care if she's dead
'Cause he's got all her jewellery and wallet."

As someone who lives in a working class area i can assure miss allen these descriptions are greatly exaggerated. most people who are in the working classes do not resaught to crime because society has wrote them off. Admittedly a few individuals do, as a result giving others around them a bad name leaving them vulnerable to lily allens manipulation for her own financial end.

Has no one heard of hyperbole? Jesus.

In any case, living in Los Angeles, I totally relate to this song.

well obviously shes exaggerating , of course you dont see old ladies being mugged as a regular thing. And if she is from an upper class end of society thats not to say she can't see problems in her city.

I love this song, shes greaaaaaaaaat!!!

and deankavanagh1234:

its resort not resaught

Regardless of what you or I may think of her lyrically i could not possibly trust a person that happily plays part to sensationalism through seedy tabloids in order to pander to her ego. And how does she do this, through openly attacking other peoples talent within the music industry or to advertise her love for all things white, powdered and consumed via the nose. So in view of miss allen behind the music i in all honesty couldn't give a shit for what she has to say in her music. Exaggerated or otherwise.

She is completely false and unoriginal but a good manipulator.

wow someone really has a major bug up his arse about Lily Allen.
I enjoy the song as it's been stated it's upbeat and happy but when you listen to the lyrics you suddenly realise what she's singing about. and yes it's exaggerated, good for you for taking that -way- too seriously.

@ deanypoo

Sensationalism doesn't have a legitimate place in news media but this is a song dude! And a damn good one.

Plus, if you don't like it turn it off already. Here, have a brain. There's a good boy!

Excuse me, I take it dean doesn't give a rat's arse about Lily Allen and her music, but if you really didn't give a blooming shit then why they hell would you be commenting here? One hate mail message per person thank you, otherwise it just becomes mindless spam.

And yes robotrobot, I know what a hyperbole is, and this song probably contains a number of them.

And if she really is manipulating people, and I doubt it, it can't be as bad as what other famous people do...

Why is it that EVERY song I ever see commented has an argument???? As most people have said, it is a song and most people just take them at face value most of the time. However, I can see where deankavanagh1234 is coming from. She has got a lot of money, and she might have seen what that area of London is like, but as someone who lives in an area like that, I don't like it when people think they understand life there when they don't. And as for saying she is sweet, have you ever met her? If you have, I will be prepared to be embarrassed :p

I live in an area of London like the one in this song, Walthamstow. And yes, this song is greatly exagerated. However, 'crack whores', muggers, and streets like the ones seen in the video to this song are innumerable round these here parts.

However, if my facts are correct, Lilly Allen lived in the London Borough of Islington, which is quite different. I guess Ms Allen just got her facts on East London livin' from watching Eastenders.

Does the song say she lived where this is all happening?
No it doesn't.

"Riding through the city on my bike all day
'Cause the filth took away my licence.
It doesn't get me down and I feel ok
'Cause the sights that I'm seeing are priceless.
Everything seems to look as it should,
But I wonder what goes on behind doors."
This means shes just passing threw,
She's wondering what really happens.
As the song goes on she realises all the crap that happens there.

"A fella looking dapper, and he's sittin' with a slapper,
Then I see its a pimp and his crack whore
...Then a kid came along to offer a hand
But before she had time to accept it
Hits her over the head, doesn't care if she's dead
'Cause he's got all her jewellery and wallet."
In other words, the place is full of drugs, sex and violence.

You might laugh, you might frown
Walkin' round London town.
This means you care you might not,
About whats happening.

"Sun is in the sky, oh why oh why
Would I wanna be anywhere else?"
She is being sarcastic.
She would rather be anywhere else.
She doesn't like what she seeing.

"When you look with your eyes
Everything seems nice,
But if you look twice
You can see its all lies."
Things look ok, but if you actually take notice,
Things are really bad.

"Life, yeah that's city life, yeah that's city life,
Yeah thats city life."
This bit shows that theres nothing that can be done about it,
and thats it just has to be got on with.
And that it it happens in most citys.

That is the whole song explained.
Hopefully it'll stop all this "she still thinks she can sing about it."
Least she's actually showing she cares.
Other than just ignoring it.

Thats my input.

Maybe,
Lily is talking about how the world seems perfect to her, then she visited cities like in this song, and she realized life isnt perfect?
Just my view, feel free to bash me. x]

LDN doesn't just stand for 'London'. The word 'London' is very rarely abbreviated at all.

LDN is more commonly used to mean "Lethal Dose to N%" I won't get scientific, but LDN indicates the dose of a toxicant that is lethal to n% (the median) of a population. (In Layman's terms, the amount of a drug must be taken to O.D.)

Knowing Lily's involvement with drugs and London's reputation for a large drug culture, It would make sense that she titled this song LDN as a sort of pun.

Perhaps she is referring to the infestation of immorality in London and suggests that it is reaching the tipping point (LDN).

Bah, someone else try to interpret it. I just thought you could use the FYI.
