  My Interpretation:This song means a lot to me... but what I think of it is different than a lot of people do. It's like two people who like/love each other but one of them doesn't want to be with her/him because of past relationships that have left them damaged. but that he/she will still always be there for them as a best friend or even more than that(friends with benefits kind of thing). I'll interpret what I mean so maybe it will make more sense.

  -This is basically saying that when he/she sees the other smile he/she is so filled with joy and happiness because they're in love, but is sad because they can't be together. Basically, the world turning cold is the fact that they can't be together, but he/she still has hope that he/she can be the one that makes everything right again.
  
  "I will never let you fall (let you fall)
  I'll stand up with you forever
  I'll be there for you through it all (through it all)
  Even if saving you sends me to heaven"
  
  -This is just saying that he/she will be there for the other no matter what they go through. Unconditional love.

  -This is saying everything will be okay, and that everything around them is perfect for them to be together even though they aren't. And even though time has passed and they're still not together, he/she still knows that he/she can be the one.

  -This is saying he/she really loves him and not to give up on their relationship or friendship... whatever the confusing mess is because he/she doesn't want to live without the other.

  Though my skies are turning gray"
  
  -This is saying you can use me as much as you want, as in use me for my friendship or even for sexual favors. And that he/she will be okay, even though nothing is going how he/she wants it to(though my skies are turning gray)

  I'll be there for you through it all
  Even if saving you sends me to heaven"
  
  I know it might be hard to understand, but it makes sense to me. And it relates perfectly to my situation.

    It hurt more to be with him than without him, or at least I told myself this. He was my first love, and we never dated, (He was dating another girl so it hurt to be around him. Even though he promised me he liked me too but didnt want to give up on his girlfriend.) but I loved him so much. He was my best friend too. Finally it took him breaking every one of his promises for me to break mine. I threw his poetry back in his face and ran. This song makes me sad, but it holds a lot of memories too. I can think of my boyfriend right now who happens to be the guy who patched my heart up after this guy hurt me. He is my true guardian angel ;)

  General Comment:i think its being sung by a person in love, his girl has another one, its like his waiting("id be there for you through it all""cause im here for you")
  and waiting for his chance to become the one that one person ("even if saving you sends me to heaven") and ("And I know I'll find deep inside me I can be the one")
  
  just in my opinion, and thinking about this song... it actually has a lot of meaning, i really like it, the first i heard it i really fell in love with it and thats back when im still not playing guitar like 4years ago lol this is the first song i searched for when i started playing guitar :D

  General Comment:Sigh I think honestly its about an ended relationship and the guy still loves her or someone who loves another person but you can't have them. Because I think even when you truly love someone you will do anything for them and even means if that you can't have them you will still be there for them and you will protect them with all your heart...I think the first line says it. "When I see your smile, the tears roll down my face"

  Song Meaning:I think this song is really about love... agree with most comments here... unfortunately, the love is "one sided". Guy loves the girl, but the girl doesn't love him back.
  
  The singer sings to the loved one that he's willing to go through anything to prove her love for her... even willing to die for her. Unfortunately, the girl doesn't love him that much (please don't walk away and please tell me you'd stay), more like begging... he's willing to be there and has accepted that the girl won't love him back, as long as she won't turn her back on him...
  more like losing hope even... that i got from the line "though my skies are turning grey"... i think that's also the reason why at that part of the song, it started getting louder.
