this song has two giutar parts to it..that is wat makes it reli gd..and frusciante's back up is pretty sweet..this is one of my faves on the album cuz of the acoustic git.

theres prop so few comments bcs the album list from the link on the song meanings home page only gives an accoustic live version.

eh i dunno it weird i ove it but no idea what it is about, it could be about a girl you go out with and she dumps you, and then she gets treated as bad as you go treated but somehow you feel bad. I dunno its kinda weird. BUT ITS FUCKEN AWESOME

Another girl bad for my health
This is a powerful line because, one thing I observed about Anthony's life is that whenever he breaks up with a girl he goes on a drug run. Thats what he is talking about.

I love the feeling the feeling when it falls apart.
I'm slow to finish but I'm quick to start.
Another great line. One thing Anthony loves is that ultimate high when you do drugs right after a long period of being clean. So he loved the feeling of being so high. Because during his life he used to drugs soo much that he sometimes didn't get high on drug runs. But he commented about how it was soo amazing when he started doing drugs after a 6 year clean streak. I'm slow to finish but I'm quick to start... Slow to finish his rehabilitation because during his life he tried many half attempts to come clean but he never fully committed. Quick to start... referring to drugs again.
I think there has been hints that Anthony has started doing drugs again but once again there isn't enough evidence other than his lyrics and his dogs death.

azer is right. This whole song is about drugs. The desecration smile itself means, him being high. Later in the song it says that he doesn't do it often

All the other references were already said by azer. Thats all it could mean. And Anthony is definitely doing drugs again.

THis song is not about drugs, I hate it when people instantly refer to chili pepper songs being about drugs, it has got to do with love. How does "I like to think that im your number one" refer to drugs

Its about a girl, maybe a girl that your friend is going out with like Silverside said

In bloom = a Nirvana song which is about Trendies and wannabes. "I never thought i'd be in bloom' is this indicating that Anthony never thought Teeny-boppers would like his music these days. I hate Tinneyboppers

Oh and BTW Beneath the heather lies a meadowlark is about is new girlfriend Heather, and " Serenaded by the terror bird" is about heather taking him to like a death metal or heavy metal concert which he liked, meaning he was serenaded by the hard music ( all rock is great anyway, except for emo)

this song is one the few highlights on poor which the cood of done widout put on the album
otherwise i rely lyk dis song john dos a great job of harmonies the lyrics can be read in many ways typical of a chili pepper song
this cood b the mars equivalent of snow(hey oh)
i think theres a bit of ying yang/x+y in this double disc album
and wats the wah-wah part for and who dos it

the red hot shitty peppers are all asshats. anthony kliedis (probly miss-spelt) isnt a good song writer and they all sold out funk which they were actualy a bit good at

Rock Fan 01..sure people shouldn't automatically assume a chili's song is about drugs but this song sure sounds to me like thats what it's about..and if you've read scar tissue you'll know how closely drugs and relationships have intertwined in Anthony's life,both during or after a relationship.Maybe the song is about love AND drugs (another girl bad for my health) and to jugbandcoin..why bother posting here if you dont have anything useful to say?
