Like all birds together we will squawk and we squeak
The joy comes from all our beaks
And ringing bells is our fun
Now our ass is moving as one..

If we are forgetting all the rules that we learnt
When all the rule books are burnt
And just like a follows b
Our chorus will always be

So glad to see that you came
We hope you come again etc.

I have but one true friend
She sings to me
In my solitude
And I know her name

I tried to know her..
In all her changes
But I don't know her...\

Like all birds together
We will squawk and we squeak
The joy comes from all our beaks
And ringing bells is our fun
Now our ass is moving as one
If we are forgetting
All the rules that we learnt
As all the rule books are burnt
And just as A follows B
Our chorus must always be
So glad to see that you came
We had best times
We hope you come again
Please come and see the sea
If you come
We'll have best times again
But now it's time to go
Time to go home
I have but one true friend
She sings to me
In my solitude
And I know her name
I tried to know her
In all her changes
And I don't know her place
And I don't see her face
When we come together
Then we forget ourselves
And just as night follows day
The beginning must become the end
And so we will start again
When we come together
Then we meet other souls
And then we make our goodbyes
And we lay our bones to rest
As birds we dream of the sky
Please let me go
Please help me go [Repeat x4]
So glad to see that you came
We had best times
We hope you come again
Please come and see the sea
If you come
We'll have best times again
But now it's time to go
Time to go home

    My Interpretation:Amazing song!

This song to me is about a love that cycles on and off over the years.

When “we come together we forget ourselves” – (Its always fun and good times and they momentarily forget the past hurts and breaks ups that was them. They even forget their current lifestyles which are eachotherless.) They simply live in the moment of them.

The hourglass on their time is always starting and inevitably they realize that each can’t give what the other wants, so it never works out for good- “The beginning must become the end.”

They both move on with others and their lives change. She is the one girl that really got him, shaped him, and knew him and so she is the one who appears in his “solitude” because even though they don’t work out, they try to know each other “through all her changes”: high school, college, career, hobbies, hair colors, even her becoming a wife, a mother, and so on.

He is asking her “please let me go.” Let go from her, let go from their memory.

    My version anyways….

Memory:an old friend of mine died last year, who i hadn't seen in a very long time, so obviously it was a shock but i didn't feel personal bereavement like his family and close friends, but it was nonetheless something i thought about a lot at the time and still think about now. he was very young - eighteen - but he had already become a man, someone who could talk and listen and understand things in a way that seemed beyond his years. his family's reaction to his death was absolutely incredible - they started an annual festival in his name with proceeds going towards helping the environment... anyway, at the festival this year, his sister had everyone light enormous lanterns and launch them into the night, with this - his favourite song - playing in the background, and it was amazing, the sky looked beautiful - it should have been in a film. but the really poignant thing about it was the line "please let me go... please let me go" because lighting the lanterns felt very symbolic of that - as if we were properly sending him off.
i love how music can resound like that. it's incredible.

General Comment:I think the "one true friend" might be one of the band's synths. I know the band are really fond of their equipment (including several very expensive vintage synths). And the strange vocal effect on the chorus makes it sound like they are presenting this synth as a kind of mystical object.

    Just a thought.

General Comment:This song is really beautiful.. and I, reluctantly, admit that I didn't like this song at all when I first listened to it. Anyway, to me it means pretty much what Somebody2Love has already said -- Only I also think it means that the singer knows someone very deeply; Knows things about them that no one else couldn't even begin to imagine that that person would like/have seen/been through/ect. ect. And this person also knows a lot about him. Hence why he calls her his one true friend.

He doesn't see this person (and I don't see her face), but he knows their name (and I know her name). Perhaps it's a long distance relationship? He speaks to her in solitude.. I don't know about everyone else, but when I'm on the computer I'm usually "in solitude"; By myself.

The beginning really confuses me.. But maybe all that really means is that, as one, even though we are exercising that great big American Dream of Unity, we are becoming less and less diverse; Less distinguishable from everyone else..

Ahh.. Perhaps I'm looking into this way too much. 8D I just really enjoy this song. It's some what gloomy.. Very pensive.

General Comment:I think it's "Then just as A follows B" instead of "They're just as aimful as me"... it's what I hear.
But thank you for the rest of the lyrics! Every single site has the same incorrect unfinished ones...
I adore this song, it's so strangely soothing.
