Lyrics for Snow ((Hey Oh)) as interpreted by quazy_qual

Snow ((Hey Oh)) Lyrics
Come to decide that the things that I tried
Were in my life just to get high on

When I sit alone come get a little known
But I need more than myself this time

Step from the road to the sea to the sky
And I do believe that we rely on

When I lay it on
Come get to play it on
All my life to sacrifice

Hey oh listen what I say oh
I got your
Hey oh now listen what I say oh, oh

When will I know that I really can’t go
To the well once more time to decide on

When it’s killing me
When will I really see
All that I need to look inside

Come to believe that I better not leave
Before I get my chance to ride

When it’s killing me
What do I really need
All that I need to look inside

Hey oh listen what I say oh
Come back and
Hey oh look at what I say oh

The more I see the less I know
The more I like to let it go…hey oh
Wooooaaah

Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder
Where it’s so white as snow

Privately divided by a world so undecided
And there’s nowhere to go

In between the cover of another perfect wonder
And it’s so white as snow

Running through the field where all my tracks will
Be concealed and there's nowhere to go oh!

When to descend to amend for a friend
All the channels that have broken down

Now you bring it up
I'm gonna ring it up
Just to hear you sing it out

Step from the road to the sea to the sky
And I do believe what we rely on

When I lay it on
Come get to play it on
All my life to sacrifice

Hey oh listen what I say oh
I got your
Hey oh listen what I say oh

The more I see the less I know
The more I like to let it go…hey oh
Wooooaaah

Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder
Where it’s so white as snow

Privately divided by a world so undecided
And there’s nowhere to go

In between the cover of another perfect wonder
Where it’s so white as snow

Running through the field where all my tracks will
Be concealed and there's nowhere to go

I said hey, hey yeah oh yeah tell my love now
Hey, hey yeah oh yeah tell my love now

Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder
Where it’s so white as snow

Privately divided by a world so undecided
And there’s nowhere to go

Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder
Where it’s so white as snow

Running through the field where all my tracks will
Be concealed and there's nowhere to go

I said hey oh yeah oh yeah tell my love now
Hey yeah yeah ooh yeah

Amazing song, all of Stadium Arcadium is too, my favourite album from the Peppers ever. I'm gonna decipher some lyrics from the other songs off of it tonight, maybe get a few up.

Not really sure what this song is about, maybe looking deep inside yourself to change parts of oneself? I am probably totally off lol.

It's very introspective. It has to do with getting clean, and staying clean.

First off let me say that I already love this song, when I first heard it the guitar melody immediately put me in a good mood. I don't fully understand the lyrics, however I agree they are very introspective and contemplative. So far my favourites on Stadium Arcadium are Dani California, Snow (Hey Oh) and She Looks To Me, but thats probably going to change with time :D

What do you mean with "decipher some lyrics"? All the lyrics are in the booklet, you would know that if you had actually bought it and not just downloaded it. Don't come on here claiming to be a RHCP fan and praising their music if you are not even willing to spend the money their albums.

HappyChillmore:

He's not all bad I also downloaded it and "deciphered" the lyrics to this song among others. I'm going to buy the limited Edition when it comes out on the 9th though!

Personally, Snow (Hey Oh) is a metaphorical juxtaposition of idealism and reality. Many people (especially the RHCP) have had their shares of hard times, but eventually all misfortunes of the past get "covered with "snow." Ultimately, people create "realities" or "wonders" (in the words of Kiedis) that mask the true substantive nature of their situation.
The song in its entirety is analgous to the postulate: "everyone views themselves (or their situation) in the light that flatters them most." Thus, the obscurest landscapes and the most jagged of edges are unified and beautified when covered with "snow." Metaphorically, "snow" is essentially the medium by which true reality is masked.

"The more I see the less I know
The more I like to let it go…hey oh"

Additionally, the above lines serve to further the point that "snow" is the differential factor that obscures reality and idealism. As more "snow" accumulates, the less we know about the nature of what's beneath the "snow". Likewise, "The more I like to let it go", serves to illustrate the appeal of "snow," in that "snow" catalyzes dissociation with reality and initiates desire to associate more with the "ideal reality" than the "subtantive reality."

And yes, although not explicitly about drugs, this song could be used to refer to them, along with any other "skeletons in one's closet" that are dusted with "snow."

happychillmore why are you knocking people who have not bought the cd and illigally downloaded it when obviously you did too because its not out yet and you are talking about your favorite songs that arent on the radio. chances are most hardcore fans will get the music as soon as they can and then when the album comes out they will buy it (like me). f'in hypocrite.

what a good time to be a chili peppers fan, 28 new songs to learn the lyrics to, and this song has to be one of their most crisp songs to date.

To summarise, no matter how bad the past, it can be covered over-like dirt can be covered by snow to become pure.

i agree with papiLPS. The begining of the song i think is oviously about cleaning up from drugs, and other impure things in life, but after the first or second verse it goes off on a complety different track and talks about other issue.

i think this song is about drugs and getting rid of them.
The more I see the less I know
The more I like to let it go…hey oh
Wooooaaah

the more he sees drugs the less he wants to use them

When it’s killing me
When will I really see
All that I need to look inside

when the drugs are killing him...

Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder
Where it’s so white as snow

deep beneath the illusions that the drugs are giving him.

i think this album rocks! All of the songs are awesome

@ beefcake: wow thank you for reminding me to take out the garbage. on top of that you also displayed your mental incapacity by commenting. stadium arcadium -believe it or not- came out on the 5th in some european countries including (where i live) germany. sorry to burst your bubble, but the worlds bigger than your hometown. so please, next time you flame, get the facts right.

@ rocky88: while i do agree with the content of your comment, what you have done is tear this songs soul out and slap an analytical barcode on it, "metaphorically speaking". no song needs to be taken apart like this man, just enjoy.

There's also a dog bark in the song, which is a reference to Anthony's dog Buster. He claims that his dog played a big part in helping him stay clean from drug abuse. Sadly, Buster, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, died a year or so ago.
