As an outcast I paced defeat
Seeking comfort in this painful retreat
Made an oracle against my will
Word spread of miraculous skills

Premonitions call my name
I once doubted them all when they came
Now I embrace it and I'll never be the same

Transfixed in the desert sands
Take a look at my once empty hand
See the rose that appears so real
Just like the one you saw in your dreams

Those who call me avatar
Know not what they're looking for
They just feed their flames with miracles
Just so you know
If you bathe within my light
You diminish your own might
The illusionist in everyone

As an outcast I faced defeat
Seeking comfort in this painful retreat
Made an oracle against my will
Word spread of miraculous skills

Premonitions call my name
I once doubted them all when they came
Now I embrace it and I'll never be the same

Those who call me avatar
Know not what they're looking for
They just feed their flames with miracles
Just so you know
If you bathe within my light
You diminish your own might
Illusionist in everyone

What I say and what I do was once potential
Sprung from the infinite place that dictates the seen

Those who call me avatar
Know not what they're looking for
They just feed their flames with miracles
Just so you know
If you bathe within my light
You diminish your own might
Illusionist in everyone

In everyone!

General Comment:My interpretation is that a man was thought to besome sort of supernatural figure, at first he resisted, but he realizes that he can't stop it and might as well embrace the people coming to him like he has some sort of devine advice for them.

General Comment:Illusionist is about religion I think but not in the sense that you all think, the whole album pitch black progress is about the inevitable end of humanity through means of control, hence I believe this is likely to about the book of revelations and the antichrist.

The name Illusionist in itself implies deception, being the son of perfidy it is simple to see why it might be linked.

The rose part I suspect might have to do with the dome of the rock and the second jewish temple being rebuilt once again.

As an outcast I paced defeat, seeking comfort in this painful retreat. Premonitions call my name, I once doubted them all when they came, now I embrace it and I'll never be the same.

The outcast part would most likely imply the ideal that he was a demon casted out from the heavens. I think the part about premonitions implies the ideal that the antichrist will originally have had a very religious upbringing and originally did not serve these premonitions.

Those who call me avatar, know not what they're looking for, they just feed their flames with miracles, implying he is indefinitely a false miracle worker, which claim him as an avatar.

Illusionist in everyone I believe would imply the mark of the beast being implanted, most likely the idea that rfid is the mark of the beast, since the album covered much of these theories..

Bathing in his power you diminish your own might would most likely imply the diminishment of ones opposition after accepting the mark.

And I further suspect this seeing as Christian Älvestam existing in the holy unblackened band miseration would imply he's a christian.

Implying he may have had some type of influence on this song creation or structure and indefinitely in the manner it was intended to be sung.

    General Comment:"Just so you know
If you bathe within my light
    You diminish your own might"

I saw this line to mean that if you put someone up on a pedestal, and believe them to be superior, then you don't acknowledge your own strength.

General Comment:This song hits a deep chord with me. I am a very spiritual person and my beliefs are sortof slammed into the "new age" religions that are forming. But its far from that.

This song speaks to me specifically in the chorus.
    "Premonitions call my name
I once doubted them all when they came
Now I embrace it and I'll never be the same"
To me this tells what happens to those who become 'awake' to the spiritual world around them. Some who become aware of these happenings doubt them when they first come, but over time when they realize that these things are real, then it changes the person for the rest of their life.

The word Avatar stuck in my head the first few times that It was brought up, and I instantly put that word with Jesus, Muhammad, Bhuda, Ghandi, Mother Theresa, etc. Those are spirits who come back to teach humanity a lesson. Each one teaches something different, as you could see from the vast differences in religions and spiritual beliefs in the world.
But when he says " Those who call me Avatar know not what they're looking for " is a perfect example of how wound up the world is with waiting for the 2nd coming of Christ, or looking for a godly sign in the form of a human being.

    " Just so you know
If you bathe within my light
    You diminish your own might"
    - I read this and laughed for a while. My spiritual teacher said something similar to this ( though in not so melodic form ) that " when you are around people who are high-energy, the high-energy person will bring your own energy up. But after a while you'll go back down". Take that however you wish.

"Sprung from the infinite place that dictates the seen"
Easy enough to figure out, unless you hiss at the idea of this being about some heavenly body. Heaven, Valhalla, etc...It is the infinate place that dictates the seen. There is no better way to put it.

So there is my interpretation. I hope one of you take something from this. Even if you dont...thanks for reading.

General Comment:honestly, I think any parallels to the Dark Tower are not direct references to the series but instead occur due to the series' references to the bible.

General Comment:This is not the best Scar Symmetry IMO, but it is probably the most accessible.

The lyrics talk of an oracle, someone with power and ability above everyone else, but the song finishes with "In everyone!". Like minus_zer0 said, it's like he wants people to have faith in themselves. I think the message is that we all have potential to succeed, it's "in everyone".

General Comment:Great band, just started getting into them. Flagg, I also saw the references to Dark Tower. In fact, I saw the video first, and when you see the red rose agains the black and white of the rest of the video, I immediatelym thought of Stephen Kings' Dark Tower books.

General Comment:No, it's might not pride.
It's actually nice to.. buy the cd and look at lyric sheet.

Great band, one of my favorites. I'm really surprised their work on here has so few comments.
