this song is so true....we all have little things that we hide from people. wow. i'm so glad i found a church where i dont have to do this anymore.

i agree with both statements above, however, i think that there is more to it. true, you can't really dissect a song that was not written by you because there is so much emotion behind writing at times. i think it has a lot to do with the fronts that we put up as christians. on sunday we act different than any other day of the week. we act different around family than we would around friends (not everybody.. there are few who claim to be near perfect lol) but.. i think its about how we try to act good on sunday at church so that people think we are good people with no problems. just sit back and listen to the song in solitude. you can really get a lot from it for sure without a doubt !

This song is great... on of my teachers sang it at the school talent show. And it's so true! itzadooodzy, I think you've hit the nail on the head. We go to church and smile, and act like nothing's wrong, as if our life is always perfectly focused on Christ. I've got a friend whose mother curses out her kids, trying to get them to church on time. :[ We aren't perfect; we're God'd works-in-progress. We should act as such. Problems aren't immediately solved when we accept Christ; I think this might be what makes the secular world see us as fake, and often hypocrites. Casting Crowns addresses issues wonderfully.

To me, it's all about hiding the pain. Hiding what you're going through. It's about saying 'la dee da I'm happy because I'm a christian' when really, you're in so much pain, even though you are a christian.

I see a lot of me in this song. I hate showing people I'm going through something rough. Because I think it'll tell others that being a christian doesn't help anything. So, my mind says 'I need to tell the world I'm happy even though I'm not because they might not come to Christ if I tell them I'm not happy'

the part that gets me the most is 'traded in the altar for a stage' We've let ourselves stop being transparent so that we can pretend everything's okay. We've let ourselves stop outwardly showing we're going to God, and instead, outwardly lie and say everything's fine. To truly reach a broken world, we need to show them what God can do with broken people.

I feel exactly like the first verse. I'm not sure I understand the the part below though. Can anybody help?
