Well you are worth more than the man I am
Sad and in love, hands trembled of life that we would have stolen
Anyway, stolen
Well, anyway

To Brooklyn, I'm homebound
A trap to the east
Marking miles of martyrs
Of better men, of better men than me
And I wanted to tell you, I just didn't know

Genuine and unprepared
If you, you see something then you should say something
If you, you see something could you just say something?

Genuine and unprepared
If you, you see something then you should say something
If you, you see something could you just say something?
Say something.

Something awful itches in these walls
I found a subtle genius in that white, hot hatred of yours
Misuse is practice; perfected and played
In time I'm gonna get what's mine

To Brooklyn, I'm homebound
A trap to the east
Marking miles of martyrs
Of better men, of better men than me
And I wanted to tell you, I just didn't know how

Genuine and unprepared
If you, you see something then you should say something
If you, you see something could you just say something?

Genuine and unprepared
If you, you see something then you should say something
If you, you see something could you just say something?
Say something

Oh we are going, we're going, we're..
Once, twice, three times, sold!

You're better off believing everything you heard was true
You're better off believing everything you heard was
You're better off believing everything you heard was true
You're better off believing everything you heard was

Genuine and unprepared
If you, you see something then you should say something
If you, you see something could you just say something?

Genuine and unprepared
If you, you see something then you should say something
If you, you see something could you just say something?

You say something
Say something.

General Comment:What I love about TBS is that they really leave a lot of the lyrics open to personal interpretation. This song, to me, is about someone whose trying to tell someone else that they love them, but they just don't know how. They want the other person to figure it out and have them say it first or realize that the person doesn't know how to say it. "If you see something then just say something." He feels like he's let a lot of time waste away and he regrets it "Sad and in love, hands trembled of life that we would have stolen. Anyway, stolen. Well, anyway." And he thinks that he's not the best man out there, that there are other's better than him "Well you are worth more than the man I am." and "Of better men, of better men than me." But when he finally gets that reaction from the other person, he wants it to be honest, not a staged response. He wants it "genuine and unprepared." He feels like he's trapped in what's familiar and home "to brooklen I'm homebound, a trap to the easy." and that he can't get out of that trap. It symbolizes his fear of breaking out of the safe state he's in with the friend and telling them his feelings.

The second verse is about how well he knows the other. The "something awful itches in these walls" refers to his feelings and how they're trapped and wanting to get out. "Found a subtle genious in that white, hot, hatred of yours." this line is quite open. it could refer to when they first met and got to know each other and how he looked passed the outside and saw the true person. "Misuse is practiced, perfected, and played." Maybe he's done wrong trying to get the other to see his feelnigs or he's fucked up in one way or another. "In time I'm gonna get what's mine." He's confident either the person will return his feelings or he'll be able to live with the outcome that comes from it.

of course there's many ways to interpret the song, this is just mine :] i think the whole 9/11 theory is quite interesting and could be a possibility.

General Comment:Just to let you all know it's on the CD for Louder Now: PartTwo, right after Sleep and before a hidden track (The Twelve Days Of Christmas). A truly good song.

I think this has a referance to 9/11 even though I don't know too much about it being in Australia too many things fit tho
