Held captive, I'm a prisoner
In the back room where the water leaks
And I'm, oh, so cold
Command me on what to do
But we both know
Neither you or I are in control

There's nothing left for me here
I'm grabbing on to what's left of this hole
It's all too real, this can't be happening

Never again, ever again, will I say I'm okay
I'm scared of the fate that will become mine
Become mine

No time to talk, no time to talk
You know the drill

Under my desk, this can't be it
I'm only dreaming (I've got to be dreaming)
But I can't get up
No time to talk, not this time (This is my place)
This is where I arrange

Under my desk, this can't be it
I'm only dreaming (I've got to be dreaming)
But I can't get up
No time to talk, not this time (This is my place)
This is where I arrange

It's so funny how
We see things so clear
When we have no time left to live

So, lay back now
And take it in
I won't say a word
So, lay back now
And take it in
And I won't say anything

I can't believe how it feels
To stand here in this room
And feel like it's gonna blow
I think we're all gonna blow

Under my desk, this can't be it
I'm only dreaming (I've got to be dreaming)
But I can't get up
No time to talk, not this time (This is my place)
This is where I arrange

Well, I've got to be dreaming (I've got to be dreaming)
We've got to be dreaming (We've got to be dreaming)
We've got to be
I've got to be dreaming (I've got to be dreaming)
We've got to be dreaming
Please, don't wake me up

This is the end
This is the end
This is the end

I believe this song is about struggling to stay true as a Christian. I get such a feeling of desperation from this song. The writer knows he's drowning in his sins, and he doesn't know what to do.

I've reported that the titles are wrong in the forums, they should be corrected soon.

I just bought the new UnderOATH CD at midnight this morning. Here are the real lyrics (out of the booklet):

Hold captive, I'm a prisoner In the back room where the water leaks and I'm oh, so cold. Command me on what to do, but we both know neither you or I are in control.

There's something left for me here. I'm grabbing on to what's left of this hole, it's all too real this can't be happening. Never again, ever again, will I say I'm Ok. I'm scared of the fate that will become mine.

Growing up in FL (same state as the boys from UnderOath), I know all about tornado drills, and this seems to be what hes talking about. We were required to get under our desks and wait til we were told to come out. This song is his thought process while experiencing a tornado..Coming to terms with the fact that he is probably going to die. He would rather die under his desk than wake up from his dream. He's ready to meet God. Amen.

thanks again LifeMeansBitter. good catch owen. the whole tornado drill theory would explain alot of the weird, seemingly random comments about the desk and such, but i think the tornado drill is still just a metaphor. Maybe for how we need to lose or almost lose things to see their true value. I am a christian but i will admit it gets visciously annoying when we try to over apply God and Christianity into things that may be simply about life itself. And seeing God created life and all things, then why do we need to over apply and seemingly over compensate for our Belief.

    Just a thought.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
