Lyrics for Rosetta Stoned as interpreted by Solarius

Rosetta Stoned Lyrics
All righty then... picture this if you will...
10 to 2 am, X, yogi DMT, and a box of krispy kreme's in my "need to know" pose just outside of area 51, contemplating the whole chosen people thingy when just then a flaming stealth banana split the sky like one would hope but never really expect to see in a place like this. Cutting right angle donuts on a dime and stopping right at my birkinstocks, and me yelping "holy fuckin' shit!"

then the X file being, looking like some kinda blue green Jackie chan, with Isabella Rossellini lips, and breath that reeked of vanilla chig champa, did a slow mo matrix decent outta the butt end of the banana vessel, and hovered above my bug eyes, my gaping jaw, and my sweaty L. Ron Hubbard upper lip and all I could think was, "I hope uncle martin here doesn't notice that I pissed my fuckin pants!!"

so light in his way, like an apparition, that he had me crying out...
"fuck me! It's gotta be the dead head chemistry. (the) blotter got right on top o' me. Got me seeing E mutha fuckin T!

and after calming me down with some orange slices and some fetal spooning, E.T. revealed to me his singular purpose. He said. "you are the chosen one. The one who will deliver the message. A message of hope for those who choose to hear it, and a warning for those who do not." Me! The chosen one. They chose me!!!! And I didn't even graduate from fuckin' high school!!

Then he looked right through me with somniferous almond eyes. Don't even know what that means. Must remember to write it down.
This is so real. Like the time Dave floated away. See, my heart is pounding. cuz this shit never happens to me.
Can't breathe right now.

It was so real. Like I woke up in wonderland. all sorta terrifying. I don't wanna be alone while I tell this story.
And can anyone tell me why y'all sound like peanuts parents?
Will I ever be coming down?
This is so real. Finally it's my lucky day See, my heart is racing cuz this shit never happens to me.
Can't breathe right now.

You believe me don't you? Please believe what I've just said. See, the dead ain't touring and this wasn't all in my head. see they took me by the hand and invited me right in. then they showed me something. I don't even know where to begin.

Strapped down to my bed, feet cold and eyes red.
I'm out of my head am I alive? Am I dead.
Can't remember what they said. God damn. Shit the bed.
Overwhelmed as one would be placed in my position...
Such a heavy burden now to be the one
Born to bear and bring to all the details of our ending.
to write it down for all the world to see.
But I forgot my pen. Shit the bed again. Typical.

Strapped down to my bed, feet cold and eyes red.
I'm out of my head am I alive? Am I dead.
Sun kissed and Sudafed Gyro scopes and infrared
won't help. I'm brain dead. Can't remember what they said.
God damn. Shit the bed.

Can't remember what they said to me.
Can't remember what they said to make me out to be the hero.
Can't remember what they said.
Bob help me.
Can't remember what they said.

We don't know and we won't know.
God damn shit the bed.

Does seeing aliens on DMT or acid make them real? I believe not.

Also according to quantum physics, anything that could happen is ACTUALLY happening. Yes, just because it is a possiblity. So, technically, if you were imaging kicking someone in the nuts, you are really kicking them in the nuts. The theory works for ridiculously small particles, such as photons. Photons are just massless light particles, so every possible thing that a photon could be doing is actually happening.

He says he cant remember what they said and he was also a highschool drop out. Could this actully be why he is a drop out, cant remember things.
What this really reminds me of is Cheech and Chongs Nice Dreams I think with PeeWee and PeeWee is a loony on drugs.

Maynard didn't drop out of high school... this song is not meant to be from his own perspective...

This absolutely wonderful, turbulent, slip and slide through some poor bastards celestial experience should serve as a warning to all!
If you ever happen to experience an encounter like this and you have the feeling that you may have the key to unlocking a large puzzle for all of mankind, you should try to avoid all psych wards, hospitals and police officers. They\'ll only rob you of your message and leaving you shitting yourself and useless.
Instead you might try having a few more oranges slices and hopping the next bus to a warm, bustling area, full of humans. Once there you should walk around erratically throwing your hands in the air and delivering the message, that has been given to you, in loud and foreboding voice.

I believe this song is truly about a DMT experiance. First, because of the lucid dreamlike experiances described in the lyrics. Secondly, because of the alien visitation. It is common for a DMT experiance to involve alien visits, in clinical studies about 20% of tests resulted in a trip with aliens. Another reason is the fact that many people cannot handle the intensity of the onset hallucinations and do "shit the bed" though I believe Maynard is using that statement to describe failure. Also, the user questioned whether he was alive or dead. When I drank Ayahuasca, an Oral DMT mixture with an MAOI, I had vivid hallucinations, almost dreams, of my own death multiple times. This leads me to believe that the song is indeed about a DMT trip, even though the song preceding it is "blame hofmann" and we know Albert Hofmann is the scientist who first synthesized LSD-25.

Ahh TREXOR my old friend, getting yourself in quite a bit a trouble lately it seems!
I really must say that I don't think you should have opened your presents before Christmas morning! You ruined your own surprised and now your disappointed. I'm very sorry to have recently read all about it. Let me tell you a little story old buddy...

I waited! Damn it I waited till the very last second. I didn't cheat in any way. I wanted that first listen to be pure! I was at Best Buy when the doors opened on May 2nd, at 10am and I got my long awaited treasure. I was happy as a schoolgirl, playing with Great Gatsby looking cover and bubbling over with joy. Popped it in the CD player and headed for my sons play group.
With the first listen I felt a bit like you have described, TREXOR. I felt like technically it was great and musically it was outstanding but lyrically it just seemed off. Not bad, not bad at all, I still loved it but I was feeling like Maynard's writing was lacking in something. Then it happened....
That night a good friend came over and in a few words changed the whole CD for me. He nonchalantly said, "I think this is his (MJK) most personal stuff to date." I was floored. How could he even think that, he must be out of his mind! But before we could delve too deep into the subject the conversation twisted and turned and went another way.
The next morning at 8am I wanted so badly to wake his ass up and ask him how he could possibly say this was Maynard’s most personal work. It grinded on me all day... and so I listened and listened and listened and read and read and by the time we met again later that day I understood.
It is brilliant; it's wonderful, glorious. The difference... it's less cryptic, it's more straight foward. It is still Tool in every way but it gives you a feeling that after all of these years they have dropped some of the formality with us all. It's almost charming.
Listen to every album they have made no two are alike, they are all Tool but they are also humans growing and changing and the music is a reflextion. Enjoy it for what it is TREXOR. It truly is an amazing collection of sounds!

Morid1n... NO DUDE... it's not DMT...

if you in fact have taken DMT in the form of Ayahuasca (i have, so you can't BS me) you would know how remarkably similar to an LSD trip it is. it also causes the most intense and acute naseau, if you can hold down ayahuasca tea than you have a strong stomach indeed, or it wasn't very strong.

in fact, once the effects begin to register, even an experienced tripper would have difficulty telling the difference between oral dmt and lsd... where as the difference between lsd and mushrooms is quite noticable...

when you put together things like the name of the intro (Blame Hofmann) and lyrics like 'Gotta be, Deadhead chemistry' it's kinda hard to deny that it's acid that's being referred to in this song. don't make it more complicated than it needs to be...

you need to listen to the references, they're always there. for example, one might assume that Third Eye is about acid when the references to mescaline, or more specifically Peyote are all there, ('like phosforesant desert buttons...')... as peyote buttons commonly stand out to the user when they've ingested some... read some Carlos Casteneda if you need conformation... or just pop some peyote...

it seems like this is almost a sister song to Third Eye...

whereby Third Eye is about using psychadelics constructively to gain perspective (the one truely honest thing psychadelics do) ...

and Rosetta Stoned is about abusing psychadelics to try and have some kind of great revelation (whoops, forgot my pen) and everything goes wrong... when everything seems signifigant it's hard to tell what's important and what's bullshit...

I have been reading up on the things MJK is discusing in his songs every since I heard Faiip De Oiad, meaning the voice of god. I think the biggest misconception that MJK's lyrics are sarcastic or mocking. I instead believe that they are possibly the truth. There is a complete underground culture that believes very soon aliens that have been here all along will reveal themselves to us. It will be the turning point in human history. There will probably be some cataclysms that either preceed or follow this event as discussed in Aenima.

I do not know whose perspective Rossetta stoned is being told from. Extradimensional beings (as mentioned in Faiip de Oiad) are not physical and can contact a soul, which becomes slightly detached from the body in hallucinagenic drug trip.

I believe that, even if MJK is wrong, he most probably writes the depest song lyrics you will ever hear.

The Rosetta Stone = LSD
The LSD was like the stone that performed as the translator

And yes, it's LSD, not DMT, the guy in the song is on.

By the way, where can I get some DMT?

It's so funny how he forgot his pen...
A friend of mine took a couple bottles of dramamine and he thought he was back in school and he kept looking for his pen and notebook in my basement.

I think this song is talking a about a guy that gets taken up to heaven and is given the secrets of the universe and he posibly could of been on LSD. but he is sent back to earth to tell the world about what he learned and he forgot what he was told

Just a thought, but what if the aliens the character sees are actually angels. That might tie in a little better into the overall album.

Heh, this song kicks ass. I love the line:
"They chose me, and I didn't even graduate from fucking high school."

Yeah, it does seem to be a drug experience, obviously. I notice how, in "Lost Keys", the doctor asks him to tell him everything, and it ties into this song, which begins with "Alrighty then, picture this if you will..." It's almost like the character in both of these songs is too petrified to say anything.

Whenever the song gets to about 6:30 and has the long musical part and then the lyrics go

"High.

Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be, the one.
Born to bear and write you all the details of our ending.
To write it down for all the world to see.
But I forgot my pen.
Shit the bed again... typical."

I don't know about anyone else, but that part of the song blows me away every time I hear it. It just gives a crazy feeling inside you, this is one of the best songs on the cd.

Lost Keys (Blame Hofmann)/Rosetta Stoned are my favorite from the new 10, 000 years.
An absolutely beautiful display.
Surreal only in a way Maynard could pull off.
I love how the vocals bledn with the music and help keep it goping rather than overshadowing it, which would've completely ruined the song.

I agree, I love how it just flows into this.

One more thing and sorry if I seem like a retard: What the hell does he mean by 'fetal spooning'? What does it mean? Do I want to know?

just read an interview with MJK on the subject matter in Tool's song's where he states that while he's interested in occult and ALIEN stuff, he doesn't take it all that seriously...

in case you were wondering how serious this song is meant to be...
