Come on, bartender
Won't you be more tender?
Give me two shots of whiskey
And a beer chaser

Love will be the death of me
Love is so fickle
It starts with a flood and ends with a tri-tri-tri-tri-tri-trickle

Come on, bartender
Just a little more tender
I ate all your peanuts
Return me to sender
I've been too candid
Now I'm barely standing
Just call me a taxi
And prepare me for landing

Ooh, you have got to kick me back out
Into the cold and nasty weather
And maybe if I sober up
I will stop
Pretending that love is forever
Love is forever

Come on, bartender
Come on, bartender
Come on, bartender

Ooh, you have got to kick me back out
Into the cold and nasty weather
And maybe if I sober up
I will stop
Pretending that love is forever
Love is forever
Love is, Love is
Love is forever

Come on, bartender
Come on, bartender
Come on, bartender

Love will be the death of me
Love will be the death of me
Love will be the death of me

Love is so fickle
It starts with a flood and it ends with a tri-tri-tri-tri-tri-tri-tri-tri-tri-tri-tri-tri-trickle
Trickle
Trickle
Trickle
Trickle
Trickle

Come on, bartender
Come on, bartender
Come on, bartender

General Comment:I know this may sound random, but she also mentions a bartender in the song "Cinderella". In movies, the stereotypical bartender is one that gives you advice for all your problems. In "Cinderella", he has more problems than anyone else in the song. I wonder if there's a connection between that and this.

General Comment:I love the mood of the "trickle"s at the end of the song. It's exactly like when you stare at a dripping faucet, and just when you think the water droplets have stopped falling, another one falls. It catches you off guard. The same is so true about love, even after the initial spark and the relationship are long gone. It just keeps trickling out, more slowly as time goes by, in tiny amounts each time, and you aren't sure if it'll ever stop.

i love playing this one on the piano. so satisfying. and so true.
trickling alcohol, trickling love, eventually it all runs out and you get kicked out into the cold and nasty weather.
i love the way she sings with the abandon and extremity of someone who's pissed off her head. she's talking to the bartender because she has nobody else to talk to, but she's reached that point where it's like she could be talking to herself and not care nobody's listening.

General Comment:Well first of all this song is amazing. lol.

But anyway. I think this song is about a girl who has just broken up with her long time boyfriend. So she goes out to get drown her sorrows in alcohol. The more the song goes on, the drunker she gets and the more she begin to realize how crazy love really is and how "fickle."

"Love will be the death of me." She's feeling extra done now, all cuz of love.

    lol This is sadly me.

General Comment:"I probably stop pretending that love is forever."
I love the subtly in the way she sings it, so at first it sounds like she's just saying "Love is forever", but then you listen more closely it is more real, that maybe she can STOP PRETENDING that love is forever.
Isn't it reminiscent of Andre 3000 singin' something like "they say that nothin is forever, then what makes love the exception". It's not the happiest thought, but that's life.
Damn that Regina's got it goin on.

General Comment:I love the fact that beautiful music like this still exists in a world where the current "number one" is a song which is just the same line repeated over and over across a dance beat. It's like a little ray of hope,
