Despondent, distracted,
You're vicious and romantic;
These are a few of my favorite things.
All of those favors and this is what you choose.
Pass the blues, pass the blues,
And onto something new.
Something real,
Make it timeless.
An act of God and nothing less will be accepted.
So if you're calling me out,
Then count me out.
You were stubborn and melodramatic,
A real class act.
You see I know a few of your favorite things.
Five in the morning and out comes out pouring love
Out the same way in.
Something real,
Make it timeless.
An act of God and nothing less will be accepted.
So if you're calling me out,
Then count me out.
Something real,
Make it timeless.
An act of God and nothing less will be accepted.
I said real,
Make it timeless.
An act of God and nothing less will be accepted.
So if you're calling me out
Then count me out.
You're vicious and romantic;
These are a few of my favorite things.
All of those favors and this is what you choose.
Pass the blues, pass the blues,
And onto something new.
Something real,
Make it timeless.
An act of God and nothing less will be accepted.
So if you're calling me out,
Then count me out.
You were stubborn and melodramatic,
A real class act.
You see I know a few of your favorite things.
Five in the morning and out comes out pouring love
Out the same way in.
Something real,
Make it timeless.
An act of God and nothing less will be accepted.
So if you're calling me out,
Then count me out.
Something real,
Make it timeless.
An act of God and nothing less will be accepted.
I said real,
Make it timeless.
An act of God and nothing less will be accepted.
So if you're calling me out
Then count me out.

Rated 0 alright, i recon this is a love song about a dude talking about his relationship with his girl, they focus on the positives about each other but even those negatives make them closer because that is who they are, they believe theyre a match made in heaven, but if she would want to leave him any rason, he would let her go because he just wants her to be happy
see what u recon.
Despondent, distracted,
You're vicious and romantic;
These are a few of my favorite things.
( in this hes saying that the things others dont like make him love her much more, because its her personality and no one elses)
All of those flavors and this is what you choose.
(there are all these other guys that he feels are better than him but she chose him)
Pass the blues, pass the blues,
And onto something new.
(forget the bad things, forget the bad things, i have something better to talk about)
Something real,
Make it timeless.
(their love means more than all the time in the world)
An act of God and nothing less will be accepted.
(he believes that god chose this relationship because its so great, and wont accept any other reaon)
So if you're calling me out,
Then count me out.
(but if she wants out, he'l let her go if that makes her happy)
Yeah, we're stubborn and mellowdramatic,
A real class act.
(yeah we can be arseholes but we think its funny)
You see I know a few of your favorite things.
(and she does it all the time)
Five in the morning and out comes out pouring love
Out the same way in.(they will fight and the love pours out of them, but its just as easy to fall inlove again)
what do you recon?
maybe im way off but this is the way i saw it the first time i listened to it and when i learnt it on the g-tar.
This was me and my ex's song....sad.
You're vicious and romantic;
These are a few of my favorite things.'
-I don't know, it kind of reminds me of someone who used to be full of life, really happy, but lately they've been shying away from their normal existence, never fully there, and always daydreaming. Also, I think there are some people who are really romantic but are so pessimistic that they can't get past that, coming off as vicious. Like they love you but are so terrified of getting hurt that they'd tear you apart before you can hurt them first. However, he doesn't care.
'All of those flavors and this is what you choose.
Pass the blues, pass the blues,
And onto something new.'
-Out of anything that you can be and feel, this is what you choose to do. Kind of like someone's personality is their 'flavor'. It also seems like they've probably been fighting a lot over the same thing, and he's just saying "that's alright, we'll be okay" and then something else happens
'Something real,
Make it timeless.
An act of God and nothing less will be accepted.
So if you're calling me out,
Then count me out. '
-And, yeah, to me this part seems like he's talking about how TBS is pretty famous among bands and how fans are always wanting more and more from the band, so they have to be as good as they can possibly be, and if they make one mistake they could be torn apart (especially considering that the music industry is very fast paced). Although, 'so if you're calling me out...' reminds me of when someone has been acting weird and people start questioning them about why they've been acting that way, and then the person just kind of walks away. Like they don't want to get in another fight.
'Yeah, we're stubborn and mellowdramatic,
A real class act.
You see I know a few of your favorite things.'
-I guess this part ties back to the opening, where he's talking about the way his girlfriend/fans are acting, except now he's talking about himself/his band. Kind of like, how I love your faults, I know you love mine too (because that makes us who we are, our faults).
'Five in the morning and out comes out pouring love
Out the same way in. '
-I guess your heart is the vessel of love? Hah, I have no idea what this part could even mean. Though the morning seems like a time when you're more at peace with yourself, and when you start to think in depth.
Hahah, okay, obviously I'm just guessing at this meaning to this song, considering the only one who knows the true meaning is the one that wrote it. The best thing about lyrics is that they can mean anything depending on the person listening to the song.
It's true that this song isn't a song you'd want to listen to when you are ready to party, or whatever, but if you're feeling blue and down, it's nice to hear. Even if you don't like the CD at first, it definitely grows on you.
Anyway.
"Despondent, distracted,
You're vicious and romantic;
These are a few of my favorite things...
Yeah, we're stubborn and mellowdramatic,
A real class act.
You see I know a few of your favorite things."
- In a nutshell, this describes a relationship which is the best and the worse, it's amazing and it's fucked at the same time - and that's what he loves about it.
"All of those flavors and this is what you choose.
Pass the blues, pass the blues,
And onto something new."
- Am I the only one who got the references to marriage? SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING BORROWED, SOMETHING BLUE.
I love this song. Reminds me of me and my boyfried haha
"Despondent, distracted,
You're vicious and romantic;
These are a few of my favorite things.
All of those flavors and this is what you choose.
Pass the blues, pass the blues,
And onto something new."
-This is the guy saying all the things he wants in a girlfriend, and the girl could be any of them, but she chooses to be something different, and he's going to move past being sad (or blue) about that and is going to try to reinvent their relationship.
"Something real,
Make it timeless.
An act of God and nothing less will be accepted.
So if you're calling me out,
Then count me out. "
-This is the guy saying he wants their relationship to be real and timeless, and he wants them to be meant to be, like its an act of God, and he doesn't want anything besides that, and if she's going to call him out and say that that's impossible, then he wants out of the relationship.
"Yeah, we're stubborn and mellowdramatic,
A real class act.
You see I know a few of your favorite things."
-In this verse, the couple is trying to negotiate what they want out of the relationship, and even though they both know what the other one wants, they are both too stubborn to give in.
"Five in the morning it all comes out pouring
Love out the same way in."
-Then, after staying up all night talking, they are finally honest with each other, and they realize what initially attracted them to each other is exactly what makes them not able to work in a realtionship.
Then it repeats the chorus which essentially has the same meaning.
I could be totally wrong, but that's what I got out of it. And by the way, Taking Back Sunday rocks, and this song is beautiful.
