A showdown at dusk,
This old town is lost,
I’m flat on my back
And I can’t see through the dust.

But you never told me that I was worthy,
You didn’t let me live just to hurt me.

Desperate
We will lift up our hands.
Stronger
We will rise up against.
Freedom
Is a part of us all
its time to let it go.
Desperate
We will lift up our hands.
Stronger
We will rise up against.
Freedom
Is a part of us all
its time to let it go.

What happens now when I walk out of town?
And the enemy surrounds me bent on hunting me down?
I’ll be moving silent while the enemy sleeps,
I’ll show no mercy like the first time when they came after me.

You’ll never catch me.
You’ll never own me.
Out on this lonely landscape I am free

Desperate
We will lift up our hands.
Stronger
We will rise up against.
Freedom
It’s a part of us all
It’s time to let it go.
Desperate
We will lift up our hands.
Stronger
We will rise up against.
Freedom
It’s a part of us all
It’s time to let it go.

I guess we figured it out.
One by one we’re picking them off.
I guess we figured it out.
One by one we’re picking them off.
I guess we figured it out.
One by one we’re picking them off.

Desperate
We will lift up our hands.
Stronger
We will rise up against.
Freedom
It’s a part of us all
It’s time to let it go.
Desperate
We will lift up our hands.
Stronger
We will rise up against.
Freedom
It’s a part of us all
It’s time to let it go.

Song Meaning:First, a response on The Classic Crime's status as a Christian band, then my take on the meaning of the song. Before I do this, allow me to clarify something: I am indeed a Christian. However, since half of America calls themselves "Christians," allow me to specify: I believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who died to save the world from their sins and rose again three days later, paying the ultimate penalty on that cross so that we may receive eternal life through faith. Amen? Heck to the yes.

The Classic Crime is indeed signed to Tooth & Nail. In my personal opinion, Tooth & Nail is a Christian label. Correction: the bands signed by Tooth & Nail all appear to have Christians in them. Their lyrics are clean, and their motives are pure (or something like that). Here's the deal. I don't necessarily agree with being a Christian, yet being subtle about your faith. Most Christians (by Christians, I'm talking true believers), are very subtle about theirs. I often struggle with the same thing. But, I the same time, I often ponder what good some of these Christian bands are doing for the gospel when the only people who listen to their music are, well, other Christians. There's a balance. I greatly respect bands like Haste the Day who, though they don't write cliché Christian lyrics or trap themselves in the "Christian bubble," manage share the gospel with a bunch of lost kids at every single show. That is Great Commission, ladies and gentlemen. Could The Classic Crime do a better job at this? Yep. But can you hear it in the lyrics? Definitely. In response to one of them cussing in an interview: I disagree with that too. But, at the same time, that's something I've been struggling with myself. These guys are real.

And now, let's talk Blisters & Coffee. This is definitely from the perspective of someone who is feeling overwhelmed by sin. He's desperate, lifting his hands to the Almighty God in search of the freedom that he knows He provides. He knows (and this is the best part) that we are too weak to do these things on our own; we have to let go of our pride and turn to the One who can free us from our sin. I often listen to this song when I'm feeling destroyed by my own failures. This becomes my cry. This, to me, is worship. Beautifully written, and, crap, the music is intense. Shutting up now. Peace. :)

General Comment:I agree w/ @dead2bpoetic. T&N IS TO A CHRISTIAN LABLE. and @skatepunkrocker person dude, youre wrong. Skip, the drummer is, in fact a christian. Robbie, the guitarist isnt and you can easily tell by looking on his fb page. And their vagabonds interview everyone but allan and robbie talk about their faith and what not. Jesusfreakhideout.com 's interview with them matt says ALOT of his songs are based on his faith or what he wrote when he was younger. They COULD be considered christian they just try to avoid it cuz they dont get it and out of respect for allan and robbie who arent set on their faith. Got it? Im really really not tryin to be a know it all but when ppl are know it alls yet they still mix up the facts it gets me mad and im purty obsessed w/tcc sooooo yeah.....

    General Comment:Alright here's the facts.
    1. Tooth and Nail hasn't been a fully christian recored label since 2003. They are Now A Punk/Alternative label now.
2: No The Classic Crime isn't a christian band zimbio.com/Rock+music/articles/156/… thats the source that says it.

3: just so you know only 3 out of the 5 members in their band are christian. Their Bass alan no christian and their Drummer Skip not christian.

    Happy now

General Comment:Hey guys, I know there's the huge debate over if they are a "Christian band" or not and if Tooth & Nail is a "christian label". I have a bit of unique perspective on this as I am a musician and my old band had some dealings with T&N and some great friends of mine (Through A Glass) are discussing a deal with T&N. I myself am a Christian as were the guys in my old band and as are Through A Glass (I go to church with them here in Nashville) but neither my band nor TAG are specifically a "Christian band". Of course our personal faith comes through in our song writing because is part of who we are not only as believers but as musicians and songwriters. But I don't think christian who are in music are required by God to limit themselves to writing strictly only about Him and "Christian topics". Personally I think that kind of thinking in the music industry and general public is the main cause of most "Christian music" being considered sub-par and while it is true sometimes that is the case it's not universal. I guess I said this to say I would say that The Classic Crime is not a "Christian band" even though the members are Christians themselves. And T&N is not a "Christian label" even though the overwhelming majority of their artists are Christians as are the founders and staff at T&N and those deeply personal beliefs will come through in everything they do. Hope this helps with the confusion. Much love!

General Comment:my GOSH children. Before you question whether or not the band is christian, you should:
    1. grab your cd 2. look on the back 3. find who records them 4. it's TOOTH AND NAIL

Got that? You should know that t&N only record christian artsists. T&N is a CHRISTIAN RECORD LABEL. I'd like to know what interviews your reading because i got to talk to the lead singer after a concert and he said they were christian...
    I'M CONFUSED....
as to totheendmcr04's comment: just because a band is christian doesn't mean that they are inclined to have God and Jesus written into the lyrics. i mean check out DEAD POETIC once and you'll see what i mean... NOW THAT'S the END.

General Comment:alright... i'm a christian.. and this isn't a christian band. i've heard christian bands and it's pretty obvious whether or not a band is one or not.. you theyr christians... but so what.. that doesn't mean there songs relate to it... if i started a band.. even though i'm a christian, my songs wouldnt be about god... there not gonna pretend there not a christian band if that's really the message theyr trying to get across. but it's not.. theyr just a rock band. the enddd.

General Comment:Even though they may not say they are Christian, they are signed to a Christian record company (Tooth & Nail). But I think they are in the same "boat" as Mae. They are Christians in a band, but they aren't nessicarily a Christian band. But I like what you said about not cclassifying your music. That's good, and I completely agree with you.
