im pretty sure its about the dude just needs some space away from his girl, not from everything in life. like theres still something there for her. and he feels bad. hes telling her how he feels. how he says surprise your friends, he wouldnt say that if he was talking to everything.

i agree with everyone who said it was about needing space, hes telling her why he has been feeling sad... and tells her he needs time alone but wants to stay with her.

the way the music stops and its just him singing and its just so intense, i listen to this song on full volume almost every time.
I was looking through some bands I used to listen to a couple years ago and also went on Moneen's Myspace. The title of the song made me curious so I listened to it, read the lyrics and I swear to me it kind of sounded like my boyfriend was talking to me since we're in a similar situation right now.
I think it's about a guy who can't handle his own life anymore and is just totally overstrained with the whole situation he's in.

These lines could also mean, that the girl got too close, closer than anyone before her did and kind of broke down the safe wall he's always had around himself and now he's afraid to go on to the next "relationship-level", learning to be completely honest and open about what's going on inside him.
So now he's just asking her to give him a time-out, but still trying not to see it in a negative way. He wants her to enjoy the time with her friends, because there's nothing to be sad about.
He'll be back, he just needs some time on his own...

i think i have it figured out
and then i find a line or two that contradict my theory
i think its about a good life gone downhill
only because the person was so afraid it would
