Bobbing for apples in Somalia
The man with the iron curtain is following you
No one's coming for tea-time
Except my own holy ghost
You're somewhere far, probably drinking a whiskey
I dating Jack Daniel's and Caleb and Swiss Miss, Nicky and tea,
Nachos with cocoa hey, to each his own
Lovely people, lovely places
I can't remember names and I can't remember faces
Someone next door's fucking to one of my songs

Hey, light fixture, you are much too bright
Oh, won't you stay with me through the night
Just grab a pillow tight
And wait for the dizziness to pass
Rock and roll, you ate my soul
You sucked dry my bones but you spit out my mole
I'll always opt to fall down these stairs in the end
Lovely people, lovely places
Drunken faces, slurring their phrases
I'll always opt to fall down these stairs in the end

You so jealous, I'm so lonely
You'll never forgive me but I love you only
I'll always opt to fall down these stairs in the end

You so jealous, I'm so lonely
You'll never forgive me but I love you only

Someone next door's fucking to one of my songs
Someone next door's fucking to one of my songs
Someone next door's fucking to one of my
One of my
So-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-aww
Someone next door's fucking to one of my songs

Song Meaning:Since this song is written so early almost like right when she got really famous, when she started touring a lot, she thought that "shit this is what I'll end up doing". Going to different places all the time, meeting awesome musicians all the time, drinking a lot, and after a while not remembering who these people were or where she was beacause she's been everywhere and doing everything possible... Sort of.. And having a lot of fun of course ;) But at this point, when Regina wrote this song she would take almost any gig, and now she's only performing on big stages in big towns cause she's so proffesional now and so wanted :D "I'm always up to fall down these stairs in the end" -This is what I'll end up doing. But no. You're too professional now Reg!

General Comment:It's so funny how in the end she sings "song" as if it's the sound of a bed squeaking.

Song Meaning:I don't think you can judge the meaning of this song simply based on the text of the lyrics - the inflections in Regina's voice say a ton. The first time she says "Someone next door is fucking to one of my songs," it's said with with frustration and annoyance. She then starts describing a nasty hangover which she considers to be one of the unfortunate but necessary side-effects of the rock and roll lifestyle. Her hangover is exacerbated by the annoyance of having to listen to other people using her music to enhance their pleasure - all while she's miserable / dizzy /etc. It's not simply that they're having sex but she is listening to herself add to their pleasure while others are in the opposite position as her. Always optiming to fall down these stairs means that although she's in pain, she loves this lifestyle and won't give it up.

At the end of the song, she says the line "Someone next door is fucking to one of my songs" four times. This is where the difference in her voice and inflections is key. Of these final four lines, the first two are sung fairly plainly. The third one is the big change. She says "one of MY" three times in that line and emphasizes "my" very heavily. This is the climax of the song - a minute ago she was miserable listening to her own music but she emphasizes "MY" now because she realizes that her art is touching people. At first listening to her own music was almost like the couple was taunting her during her hangover but now the music provides feelings of satisfaction. The final time is sung somewhat similar to the first two times but there's a bit of pride in her voice. She's now ok with hearing the music and the other couple because she's proud to have an influence on other people.

Lyric Correction:I think she's saying "miss nicotine." not "miss nicky tine." I mean, it sounds that way but I think she was just saying it in a weird way for flair, per usual for regina.

General Comment:I think this song was probably written when she was on tour with kings of leon, having to do with the fast paced craziness of that tour and all BUT

I always say make it your own... as for me I see the song as a person who is going through a period of drinking, having fun, meeting people etc. She has one love but for many reasons it has not worked out with them though they will always have that connection. She continues to opt to fall down the stairs in the end. I take that literally and as a term for get sloshed. She continues to want to have a good time, to leave the failed relationship be. In a harsh way she chooses addiction and or 'single fun' over the complications of a relationship.

General Comment:It reminds me of being in a relationship where your lover and you drink too much, and the alcohol makes you fight and then you drink apart. Then you get back together and you end up hurt: "fall down the stairs in the end."

Song Meaning:Actually, I've read in an interview that she was staying in a hotel somewhere and she heard one of her songs coming from the other room, and well, some noises...you know!, XD.

So, someone it was actually fucking to one of her songs!...that was all that I wanted to add.

Sorry, my english sucks, I know u_u

General Comment:I think this song is just about trying to get away from the things that bother you... and failing. A person is trying to forget someone they used to be in a relationship with, and they try a lot of things: traveling (hence the "Bobbing for apples in Somalia") religion (No one's coming for tea time except my own holy ghost") alcohol ("I'm dating Jack Daniels") And they are so absorbed with trying to forget this person that they kind of stop caring about other people in general, that's why they're eating "nachos with cocoa" in attempt to be non-conformist and talking to light fixtures. But in the end, they come to terms with the fact that they are still in love with this person ("I'll always opt to fall down these stairs in the end"). Everything they've done to forget this person ends up not mattering, "I can't remember names and I can't remember faces" indicates in a way that everything they've done in their travels is a blur. Just my opinion, though.

General Comment:Don't you love how Regina is a quiet, shy woman from a good Russian Jewish family, is classically trained in piano yet throws more sex and drug references into her songs than you average middle-aged male rockstar? lol
