i always thought i was hearing something. actually you hear it pretty clearly, i mean those 'are you there at all do you care at all' or whatever.
i like this song too, it's one of my favourites on three cheers.

i think they just put those back things ot enchance the vocals. just my opinion. unless it starts to say real sentences and stuff like that(like a song beneath a song).

Obviously he's talking about a higher power and the strength of trying to hold and trying to find it but it not being there. when he says "don't do it" hes showing the ghost saying don't kill yourself.

I never noticed the less obvious parts, and for some reason i can't hear the "are you there at all" parts, even with my CD player on top volume. Oh well, at least I caught on to the "don't do it" part. It would be cool to hear it when you're just about to kill yourself, just telling you not to do it, it's too far, so hard... If you get what I'm saying.

This song is definately a statement about suicide, and how there will be people who miss and love you even if you don't believe that at the time. When I saw MCR live Gerard made a point to tell us not to throw our lives away through suicide. (He may have been suicidal at some point during his Xanax addiction, so he should know first hand that you can recover and to use that to try to help his fans since he can reach so many people is definately.. well.. good!)
