A couple of years and I'm a silhouette
My halo is broken now, and I'm all that's left
I hate to disappoint but it's the way things went
I was blind to the things I did and after what was said
Tie up these loose ends 'cause voices are callin' me out
I've got the solution: you can feed me to something
That is leaving this town

Whoa-o-o-o
I'm losing hope
There's a hole in my heart that's been cut out of stone
Whoa-o-o-o
Cold comes, cold goes
Could you fill this hole, 'cause I can't do it alone

A couple of tears and I'm a broken mess
The sadness has taken me far too deep in regret.
So sing me a song about something good
My heart's on the threshing floor and I've torn everything open

I could...
I used to believe in, some kind of feeling
That could change everything I thought I knew
But that door is closed and my heart feels like it's frozen
If you hear me, I can't feel you.

Whoa-o-o-o
I'm losing hope
There's a hole in my heart that's been cut out of stone
Whoa-o-o-o
Cold comes, cold goes
Could you fill this hole, 'cause I can't do it alone

The coldest heart
Can be brought to life
When it's thrown into the fire of goodbyes
When it's thrown into the fire of goodbyes
When it's thrown into the fire of goodbyes
When it's thrown into the fire of goodbyes

Whoa-o-o-o
I'm losing hope
There's a hole in my heart that's been cut out of stone
Whoa-o-o-o
Cold comes, cold goes
Could you fill this hole, 'cause I can't do it alone
Could you fill this hole, 'cause I can't do it alone

And I've got the coldest heart
I've got the coldest heart
I've got the coldest heart
I've got the coldest heart

General Comment:Only part of this song that seems vague to me is
    "A couple of years..."
    of what? Screwing up?

Anyway, the weird thing about these lyrics is that they remind me of some show when this guy was together with some stranger and he didn't realise until ages later that he had to return to his family. It's a tie-in of regret for leaving the girl and regret for not returning in the first place.

"The coldest heart can be brought to life
when it's thrown into the fire of goodbyes"
Not the best line lyrically, but it sort of makes me think of a one-door-closes-another-door-opens kind of thing.

I like all the references to temperatures. It kind of makes me think of pyromania.

the first thing i thought of when i heard this was that even the coldest heart can feel something and will realize how much it valued what it had when it's gone. just a thought ;)

General Comment:Yeah xalixo is correct, because after saying,

"bound to the things I did"

It wouldnt make sense to say

    "and after what was said"

    by having,

General Comment:This song is like, if you do things that you later regret you're left with a hole in your heart because you're missing the true value of life. And in the part that says "the coldest heart can be brought to life when its thrown into the fire of goodbyes" I think it means, once you lose everyone you care about or everything you care about, you suddenly wake up and are like....."oh,......i screwed up...Dammit" and try to fix it because you're alive again. "To live is the rarest thing in the world, most peope merely exist, nothing more"

General Comment:I would like to make a comment on the chorus part "there’s a hole in my heart that’s been cut out of stone". If there's a hole somewhere, something's been taken out of it somehow. Since it's also been cut out of stone, I think that means that his heart is 'stone', whereas it has hardened from emotional regard/regret for his past actions, and now that he has lost this relationship with (God, person, w/e) he realizes his coldness, his apathy, and his selfishness, and asks someone (again God or otherwise) to help him regain his former self. In my personal opinion and experience, only God is capable of truly righting wrongs to the point of giving new life and 2nd chances, and I interpret this song religiously. In that way, I interpret the prominent line "The coldest heart can be brought to life/ when it’s thrown into the fire of goodbyes" as his or anyone's heart being able to be restored spiritually if one is willing to surrender (aka say goodbye) to the self-destructive (and destructive towards others) behaviors we insist on keeping because of our selfishness, pride, foolishness, and every other form of sinfullness. So, if you feel like you have a hole in your heart, all that is needed is for you to submit what you know is wrong behavior and ask God to help us, because it's very true: "I can’t do it alone". God bless!

General Comment:I totally agree with Prometheus000. Just because you're Christian, doesn't mean that's what your songs are going to be about, although it may influence you in ways. Christians can write/sing about everyday secular topics just like anybody else without having a religious undertone.

And I don't think he sounds like Brendon Urie at all. Brendon's voice is very very different. But they are both incredible vocalists.

As for this song, I absolutely adore it. This was the first song that really made me fall in love with The Classic Crime, some years back.

General Comment:Hey guys, I know there's the huge debate over if they are a "Christian band" or not and if Tooth & Nail is a "christian label". I have a bit of unique perspective on this as I am a musician and my old band had some dealings with T&N and some great friends of mine (Through A Glass) are discussing a deal with T&N. I myself am a Christian as were the guys in my old band and as are Through A Glass (I go to church with them here in Nashville) but neither my band nor TAG are specifically a "Christian band". Of course our personal faith comes through in our song writing because is part of who we are not only as believers but as musicians and songwriters. But I don't think christian who are in music are required by God to limit themselves to writing strictly only about Him and "Christian topics". Personally I think that kind of thinking in the music industry and general public is the main cause of most "Christian music" being considered sub-par and while it is true sometimes that is the case it's not universal. I guess I said this to say I would say that The Classic Crime is not a "Christian band" even though the members are Christians themselves. And T&N is not a "Christian label" even though the overwhelming majority of their artists are Christians as are the founders and staff at T&N and those deeply personal beliefs will come through in everything they do. Hope this helps with the confusion. Much love!
