Who is better? I guess it depends on my mood. Sometimes Rock 'n' Roll satisfies, and other times nothing beats Master of Puppets.
God, quit fucking arguing over who is better because it takes too much time away from enjoying two of the finest bands of the time.
Lemmy puts them in their place by just playing this song and naming it "Fuck Metallica". The best parody of Metallica is to just play this song as it is. If you read Motorhead lyrics you would soon realize that Lemmy represents everything that Metallica is not. You either get it or you dont, and I think all those millions of Metallica fans are wrong (at least in their taste in lyrics, if they even listen to them) I mean come on, who the hell gets off to this weak shit? Apart from 14 year olds? It´s funny how Lemmy has gone on stage with these celebrity MTV Icon douchebags... now THAT´s the definition of IRONY just like this song. Priceless.
The absolute WORST thing I see is the number of idiots who bash one band or another and insist they be respected for stating something forcefully... although they shout in ignorance because they don't do their homework. So many dorks who are debating out their asses without any idea of what the facts are. Less typing, more reading... maybe you'll learn something.
So which band "roolz" and which band sucks ass? No matter what you think, it is important for you to remember that your answer to that question is and always be an OPINION... NOT A FACT.
Yes, Motorhead was before Metallica and they were a huge influence on them, but they are in NO way a better band than Metallica and anyone who says otherwise has no knowledge of music, whatsoever. Motorhead had one great song, Ace of Spades, and a bunch of mediocre ones. Metallica, on the other hand, has written songs on levels musically, technically, and emotionally that Motorhead could never even dream of.
What it seems to me is that everyone here is just a bunch of bandwagoners. "Oh, Metallica's old stuff was good but now they suck!" "They're sellouts, fuck the mainstream!" blah blah blah. It's all a bunch of nonconformist crap being spewed by, most likely, a bunch of teenage social outcasts who somehow think that going against the grain makes them smarter than everyone else when it's just a pathetic attempt at seeking attention. But hey, if you want to think that Metallica are sellouts, then go right ahead.....but first, will someone please define the term sellout for me? Because I'm pretty sure a band who was, at one point, THE biggest band in metal and then drastically changed their style when they had reached an even wider audience (more than once, might I add) to the type of music THEY wanted to play, not what the media/fans wanted....well, that's the exact opposite of sellouts for me.
I mean, how stupid can people be? Think about it: The Black Album was a huge success for the band and if they had written another arena-metal album with catchy sing-along songs like Enter Sandman they would surely have made tons more money (surely the goal of any sellouts). So what did they do? Completely change their sound, even despite the fact that they might lose many fans (and money) by moving away from their already proven formula. Still not convinced? A few years after they made St. Anger, possibly their LEAST mainstream album. This was not the type of music the media wanted, and this was certainly not the kind of music the fans wanted, but it was what the band wanted to write. So someone please tell me how doing what you want, rather than the same old thing every album, makes you a sellout, because I really don't understand?
By the way, Motorhead is by no means a bad band, but it's laughable to compare them with a band like Metallica who had written songs 1000 times more complex than anything Motorhead could ever have written, songs way more emotional, songs showcasing way more technical skill, some songs way catchier than even Ace of Spades, songs with incredible lyrics, and basically songs better in every aspect better than anything Motorhead (or most other band) had/could ever write.
Case in point: Motorhead is a great and very influential heavy metal band, but can, in no way, be compared with Metallica, who have achieved more than most any other band could ever dream of.
Any real, TRUE, metalhead would realize Metallica is horrid and Motorhead destroys posers.
Metallica was stupid to fire Dave, they should have fired Lars.
