  General Comment:I disagree with it being about Rose Red from the fairytale. I think it's about Elizabeth I. All the references to marriage, and especially "Will I ever see thee wed/Only if you can capture me" and "I'm doing fine" - she ruled fine without a husband. If you look in the Enchant lyrics book there is a drawing of a Tudor rose by this song and a note from EA which goes something like: "I always found it personally offending that a Tudor rose looks nothing like a real rose".

    Hmm good point. I agree. This song very well could be about her. She had red hair.

  General Comment:There is a Girl Scout song called Rose, and the chorus goes, "Rose Rose Rose Rose, Will I ever see thee red? I will marry at thy will sire, At thy will"

    That Campfire Ditty, also an Irish round, is based on a story of a girl who was being forced into marriage by her father - and therefore jumped from a cliff to be free.
    Perhaps the song is about that story ?
    
    Might I add, this is my personal favourite Miss Autumn song, I find the piece at the end particularly haunting.

  General Comment:I think that this song is about the loss of innocence. The loss of virginity, she talks about "Take my petals
  And cover me with the night" and mentioning that to gain this wisdom she has given her innocence. I also think that this is an abusive relationship, something she wasn't ready for. "Here in my web of dreams
  My whispers turn to screams" and now she is fighting back agaisnt him. With is E.A's whole "act" of fighting back against being victimised. "Tell me no more stories
  And I'll tell you no lies
  No one wants to hurt me
  But everybody tries
  And if you think that I've been waiting
  For my planets to align
  It's Time you go on
  Get your things, get up, get out
  I'n doing fine"

  General Comment:I will agree partly with Thesaya on this one. It does seem to fit the story of Rose Red overall. There's also the fairytale Snow White and Rose Red, where they were sisters, both named after two rose trees their mother had: one white and one red. During the winter, a black bear came to them and stayed all winter. During the summer he went away to guard his treasure, to keep the dwarves from stealing it. So Rose Red and Snow White have some misadventures with a dwarf, whom they keep finding in trouble and keep saving, and eventually find out he's been stealing from the black bear. Eventually, the bear kills the dwarf, and it breaks the spell on him, changing him into a prince. He married Snow White, but the tale never mentions what happened to Rose Red. Maybe some of it refers to how Rose Red must have wanted to find a husband of her own, adding more to the story in doing so.

    Actually, Red Rose married the prince's brother.
    
    "Snow-white was married to him, and Rose-red to his brother, and they divided between them the great treasure which the dwarf had gathered together in his cave. The old mother lived peacefully and happily with her children for many years. She took the two rose-trees with her, and they stood before her window, and every year bore the most beautiful roses, white and red."
    
    Not many people know this fairy tale! :)

  General Comment:I think this sing is based on the book Rose Red (Ellen Rimbauers diary), which is basically about a house that a man builds for his wife, but never is finished, The wife becomes obsessed with building the house, and it never is finished. Her soul is incorporated with that of the house, and the house "incorporates" womens souls to help build the house, while it kills the men, as revenge for Ellens husbands crime against her. I don't remember the details, since it was awhile since i read the book, but it seems to fit the song

  To call my name"

  General Comment:I love, love, love this song- it's sheer beauty. I like how she samples lyrics and a melody from a folk song for the beginning lyrics and chorus. It's about a person who's in a very difficult place in their life, but is still fighting and insisting she's doing just fine (perhaps even to the point of delusion). If I could chose a theme song this would be it.
