  General Comment:To me, this song is definitely about someone who's parent had left them. Like, the kid tried so hard to please the parent and yet, the parent left. And the kid figures its not their fault but the fact that their parent left still hurts. It took me a while but I figured out tht this song and another song off the same album, zero, are pretty much the same only in zero, its pretty obvious tht its the father tht left. But thts only wat I think. Still, they are both really good songs.

  General Comment:I think this song is written from a son to a father who left, and it seems to be the correct interpretation judging by what other people have commented that Jason says. Did anybody notice how it might fit in with "From Underneath" on their earlier CD?

  General Comment:this song is aobut a boy who was so attached to father but then his father left and he thinks it was his fault. so he waits and tries to "be every thing but you" thats what the songs aobut... from the lead singer himself

  General Comment:it isnt just about "some kid".
  It's about Jason.
  A couple years ago at one of their shows, he was telling his story
  About how his dad left for long periods of time.
  And then one time he didnt come back. It was incredibly sad,
  how he described waiting at the window and watching for his dad to come home.
  But yea this band pretty much is the best thing under the sun,
  And they arent huge jerks irl, like some bands i wont mention *coughflyleafcough* ;]

  General Comment:i can relate to this song so much! like it reminds me of my ex boyfriend who isn't allowed to talk to me anymore! it reminds me how much i missed him as a friend and how much i gave up to try to get his mom to let him talk to me again! "lets go back in time when i could read your mind" there was a time when were were so alike and we could always tell what we were thinking i miss that!

  General Comment:i come from a broken home. when i heard this song it was comforting because it really hit my life for me. it was so true to what it was. and about a year ago i was able to sit down with HN and talked to them about their songs and it was a great time. they are down to earth and awesome.

  General Comment:This song is about distant and/or problemed parents. When the child was younger, everything was fine .
  (Lets go back in time When I could read your mind)
  Then the older she got the more distant they got, so she tryed to change herself to be accepted by them
  (I tried to be perfect, tried to be honest
  Tried to be everything that you ever wanted
  I tried to be stronger, tried to be smarter
  Tried to be everything but you)
  After realizing its not her fault and that they wont change no matter how much she does; She realizes that God will ALWAYS be there for her.
  
  Thats what it means in my life. This is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time!
