What are you guys talking about!? This song's awesome! Maybe cause I'm not as much into their super screaming stuff as you all probably are. I love this song! Plus I think the lyrics are intelligent and sweet. Still can't think what it exactly means, but I can just feel it.

for me, i think this song has to be one of the best they've ever made. even though it isnt as heavy as their other stuff, it goes to show that atreyu can make awesome songs that don't require a heavy or hard beat. alex can sing as well as scream and it shows more in this song then on the others. i think with the choir and whatnot in the intro, it helps make the song that much more awesome. it kinda reminds me of that scene in edward scissorhands when the girl is dancing while edward is making the angel out that big piece of snow with the whole scene all slow and stuff. amazing.

Then why do you even bother posting? Everyone so far has either been with them, or against them. There could maybe..oh, I don't know...be a REASON Alex rarely screams? In case you didn't notice, M. Shadows's voice was completely blown by his own cokie-monster growl, maybe Alex learned from that?


And to those that, and I qoute, find these lyrics both bad and 'so utterly gay,' why even bother to post in the first place? You don't like it, fine. We don't care. This site is about what songs mean, not about how gay you find them, but about how you feel they reflect what, what do they reflect to you, etc. etc. Not how 'utterly gay' they are.

I agree with inevercamester. The intro is really similar to the music Tim Burton used in Edward Scissorhands (Danny Elfman?). Also the part about hands rusting away gave me that impression that Atreyu used that film as inspiration for this song. Certainly one of Atreyu's most subdued numbers, but excellent. Alex proves he can sing well.

Thanks for the support Captain_Dorkstar. Anyway, I haven't heard too much of Atreyu so I don't know if they normally write about what I think the meaning is, so who knows. Here's what I think... I think he's talking about "the theft" of innocence from a person. "No more fights" meaning he's numb to corruption and finally he's become hardened to it all. The chorus supports this as well ("rip them, i'll take them burn to coals as they crush and leave nothing that resembles a soul of a man see him numb, see him crushed"). Maybe he's talking about the devil, how he sees a boy going to hell and how finally its kicked his ass ("my time to test the waters"). Anyone see where I'm comin from? Just a thought... A definate song that you can just feel (in the mood of the song) like relates without even knowing exactly what it means. Absolutely brilliant!

ok i completely disagree. this song is about a girl that is very seductive, beautiful, yet very manipulative (if youve ever seen saving silverman, you know the type, im NOT saying this song is in any way an alegory to the movie, im just using the girl in that movie as an example). The girl seduces a guy and turns the guy into her own personal slave.

This song doesnt personally satisfy me on the same level other Atreyu songs do. I do still respect them though for being a hardcore band and having the balls to put out a song like this.

He used to be able to live, to breath, to be free and innocent and enjoy himself and life. And now something's taken, something or someone is missing. He can't grasp onto the beatuy of what used to be, and now he lives only half-alive-or, as KsE would ask:Is he alive or just breathing?

When I push play on this song, it seems to brng forth something haunting and sad, something like a book placed in front of you and you can't quite reach for it, or understand it. It's just something that leaves you breathless and wondering if you'll be like the man, only half alive and missing something in his life.

this song honestly reminds me of the latter part of 1984 where the party tortures Winston and takes away his individuality. i think this song is about the lose of innocence, not sexually, but physically

its difficult to put into words what this song means? this is one of those songs you listen to & just feel something, for me this song makes me think of the worst break-up i've ever been through & the numbness that follows with it, where the only emotion you have is the stuff that enters vicariously through the music

Theres A Part In This Song That Makes A Mental Picture Come Up In My Head... I Visualize whats happening like this. A Guy Breaks Up With His Girlfriend Because The Girl Feels Hes Not Enough For Her. This Guy Meets With Another dude That has all the traits that his ex-girlfriend wouldve loved to see in HIM. So His mind is now set on making this other dudes life imposible by trying to break him

VForVeronica brings out a very good description of this song along with Captain Dorkstar with him saying \"only half alive and missing something in his life.\" I think the two can play together along with the theme of an innocence being lost and not gettin it back. Good job guys with the ideas of the meaning! That\'s what this site is for... to generate ideas so you can put a meaning on those songs you can feel yet not particularily place.
