Some of them come now
Some of them are running
Some of them are looking for fun
Some of them are looking for a way out of confusion
Some of them don't know what to be
Some of them don't know where to go
Some of them just got instincts that something's missing from the show
Some don't fit society,
Insides are crying low
Some of them teachers quash the flame before it had a chance to grow
Some of them embers do glow
Them charcoal, hushed and low
Some of them come with the hunger suppressed, not fed
Them feel a death blow

Young man, control in your hand
Slam your fist on the table and make your demand
Take a stand
Fan a fire for the flame of the youth
Got the freedom to choose
Better make the right move
Young man, the power's in your hand
Slam your fist on the table and make your demand
You better make the right move

Focus your own energy
Into a laser beam
Streaming shattered light
Unites to pierce
Between the seams
And it seems
In a world open
Peering, the children see
Rapid fire for your mind
The "truth" is just a lie
They refuse them a way
Then say "now why you fall behind?"

Some of the children disconnect without the concept
This wine is spiritual
Emptiness of the youth
Said, no respect

Young man, control in your hand
Slam your fist on the table and make your demand
Take a stand
Fan a fire for the flame of the youth
Got the freedom to choose
Better make the right move
Young man, the power's in your hand
Slam your fist on the table and make your demand
You better make the right move

Freedom to choose
Better make the right move
Got the freedom to chooooose

Young man, control in your hand
Slam your fist on the table and make your demand
Take a stand
Fan a fire for the flame of the youth
Got the freedom to choose
Better make the right move
Young man, the power's in your hand
Slam your fist on the table and make your demand
You better make the right move

My Interpretation:I believe that Matisyahu is trying to get across is the conflicts between the Jews and the Muslims.
First let me start off at where Matisyahu says "Seven subjects disconect" hes talking about the Muslim
community Seven Deadly Sins which the Muslims are trying to enforced in Israel, he is telling the Jewish Youth that they have the choice to believe what they want to believe.

And where he says "So the youth then gets vexed..." I think he means the people that do believe the Seven
Deadly Sins think that thats all they have to worry about, so they go out and do exactly what it says in
the song, and that replaces their figuretive heart.

My Interpretation:Seems to me like this song is about affecting change, pure and simple. It's saying young people have the power to change the world, and that they need to use it- slam their fists on the tables and make their demands. It's up to them how they change the world, since they'll one day be in control, and even though it's not always easy for someone to see the truth, they have to take a stand at some point.

General Comment:I think this song meaning is to make young people do the right choice in life which is for him - to become a religious jew which also means not using drugs, sex out of marriage and all the stuffs that the "Torah" dosent allow.

    focus your energy on Torah

General Comment:he says make the right choices in life. cuz in the u.s. you have the freedom to make those choices, so do it right.
and 2 hands, you're dumb. this song isn't dangerous, it's inspiring. anyone can do anything, you just gotta "focus your energy
Into a laser beam, streaming shattered light unites to pierce between the seams, and it seems
Tear the world open, peer in the children see
    Rapid fire for your mind"

General Comment:You are right surge55. I agree. I also take this as a "get off your ass and make something of yourself" type song.

General Comment:I don't thinks this song is about drugs or anything like that. I think this song is more about how kids these days have so much to worry about because society makes non-conformity socially unacceptable. He talks about how school contributes to the amount of stress they have to deal with. The chorus is about how we have to at some point stop doing something just because thats what we've been told to do, we have to make our own decisions.

General Comment:these lyrics are wrong... no respect? matisyahu not rodney dangerfield.

    it goes:
.. half the truth is just a lie
they rub me the wrong way.....

    Storm the halls of vanity
Focus your energy into a laser beam

    the rest is right until..
as to why there is a spiritual emptiness
    only so can get vexxed
get plasitc and beer and cigarettes
to wrecka hole in their chest

General Comment:Very inspiring song for me. Too many people want to tell you not to follow your dreams if it doesn't fit the social mold, no matter how wrong that mold may be.
