General Comment:Not my idea, but one that i subscribe to:
(background) you have this girl and this guy, they meet through mutual friends and they get along really well and they start dating. They date for like a year and everything is going well and they hang out with friends a lot and everything is healthy, but eventually little things start happening that drive them apart. Like external things, not things within the relationship. like a death in the family or friends that don't get along. So even though this girl and guy really love eachother, they can't make it work. so they break up, but still have feelings for each other. now like four years pass and they're no longer in contact, but they both still have some old heartfelt feelings for the other.

idea: the guy and the girl are both at a conference (or something like it) and neither knows the other is there, but they bump into each other over a punch bowl filling up a glass, and their eyes meet and the entire song is the single moment that they met over the punch bowl.

i get shivers when i hear this song.

General Comment:It seems that every EITS song conveys emotion perfectly.

This one makes me sad and happy.

Song Meaning:I think the entire song is about the one moment two people were either reunited or the first moment they had together. It is quite possible that they could have been forbidden to be with each other, which is why there time alone was so short. It speeds up at parts to represent passion, slows down to represent tears, and pleasantly flows to represent conversation.

General Comment:i am not sure what this one means. all of their titles on "earth" seem to relate to the musical structure and overall sound of the song. in other words, the titles are as essential to the music as the music itself. that is why this title is so confusing. on "six days....", throughout the whole song i feel like i am lying at the bottom of a coral reef looking up at the azure sky and it is beautiful. this one...its just an emotional release with little visual association as with the others.

however, any musician out there knows that certain songs stir you up when you nail a good segment of the notes or when you play the song super well. i tend to blast my huge sennheiser headphones and play the drums to this song. the part at 4:28 is just so much fun to play loud as hell after you have been patiently building up the toms and ride cymbal. its so beautiful how simple it is, from a musicians standpoint, yet so moving. i guess that is why i like to play it so much. just....an amazing fucking song. sorry for the rant.

General Comment:this is my favorite song by explosions, it blows me away every time i listen to it. it gives me that strange feeling in the pit of my heart, and just brings up all this mixed feelings with the people in my life, and the ones i love/want to be with.. it's really just amazing this is what music is supposed to sound like

General Comment:for me, the song is about wanting to be with someone, and when you are there is that surge of emotion. the panic, the passion, the anxiety, the happiness. this song is absolutely beautiful. i got the album right after it came out, but until recently i just kind of skipped over this track. i think that explosions in the sky makes lovely music to begin with, but this song... i just find it to be so raw, and just so full of emotion. i think that a lot of music these days gets caught up in the lyrics, and sometimes the music takes a backseat, and as such most of the emotion comes from the words and not the beat. but this song demonstrates the mood of what it is about so wonderfully i think that if it had words it might not be as great as it is.
