Something's in the air tonight
The sky's alive with a burning light
You can mark my words something's about to break

And I found myself in a bitter fight
While I've held your hand through the darkest night
Don't know where your coming from, but your coming soon

To a kid from Oregon by way of California
All of this is more than I've ever known or seen

Come on, and we'll sing, like we were free
Push the pedal down, watch the world around fly by us
Come on, and we'll try, one last time
I'm off of the floor one more time to find you

And here we go
There's nothing left to choose
And here we go
There's nothing left to lose

So I packed my car and headed east
Where I felt your fire and a sweet release
There's a fire in these hills that's coming down

And I don't know much, but I found you here
And I cannot wait another year
Don't know where your coming from, but you coming soon

To a kid from Oregon by way of California
All of this is more than I've ever known or seen

Come on, and we'll sing, like we were free
Push the pedal down, watch the world around fly by us
Come on, and we'll try, one last time
I'm off of the floor one more time to find you

And here we go
There's nothing left to choose
And here we go
There's nothing left to lose

I can still hear the trains out my window
From Hobart street to here in Nashville
I can still smell the pomegranates grow
And I don't know how hard this wind will blow
Or where we'll go

Come on, and we'll sing, like we were free
Push the pedal down, watch the world around fly by us
Come on, and we'll try, one last time
I'm off of the floor one more time to find you

Come on, and we'll sing, like we were free
Push the pedal down, watch the world around fly by us
Come on, and we'll try, one last time
I'm off of the floor one more time to find you

Come on, and we'll sing, like we were free
Push the pedal down watch the world around fly by us

And here we go
There's nothing left to choose
And here we go
There's nothing left to lose

General Comment:Who is the second person in the lyrics in the first place? Some people say it's God or Jesus. Considering he's a devoted Christian, it's very likely but I think the second person in the second, third and fourth verse represents "music" and "east" in the third verse represents Nashville, TN.

"And I found myself in a bitter fight
While I've held your hand through the darkest night
Don't know where your coming from, but your coming soon

So I packed my car and headed east
Where I felt your fire and a sweet release
There's a fire in these hills that's coming down

And I don't know much, but I found you here
And I cannot wait another year
Don't know where your coming from, but you coming soon"

Wikipedia says, "He attended California State University, Chico in Chico, California on an athletic scholarship and majored in literature, playing soccer until his junior year."

I could be completely wrong but does this account for the line in the fourth verse "And I cannot wait another year"? Waiting another year means graduating from the college.

As for the last verse, I think words like train, Hobart street and pomegranates represent his past, and Nashville and my window his present. The word "wind" represents his luck. So the last two lines here mean that he doesn't know where his luck will bring him to in the future.

"I can still hear the trains out my window
From Hobart street to here in Nashville
I can still smell the pomegranates grow
And I don't know how hard this wind will blow
    Or where we'll go"

    Lyric Correction:The lyric is:

And I found myself in a bitter fight
When I felt your hand through the darkest night
Don't know where your coming from
    But your coming soon

Song Meaning:This song can be interpreted however you want but it's actual meaning is about him just hitting rock bottom and resorting to god. Yes, this is a christian song and there's nothing wrong with that. He grew up in Oregon and moved to California for college. Kearney sold weed back home so the town he moved to for college was ideal. Chico State notorious for partying is where he went and fit in perfectly but just got too out of control and eventually just broke down and felt like getting out of there. I only know this cause I was bored and found it interesting to do some research after discovering that he went to college where I am currently going. Kearney even mentions this town in the song when he talks about Hobart st. You could hear the train easily from there and that's only about 2 blocks from where I live.

General Comment:it seems to speak of a decision made to hold nothing back[4 love's sake];a relationship.this cud be with God or man..well nwe,it is a choice we all have to make in life;to go the whole mile or remain mediocre. the whole mile is scary&leaves us vulnerable&prone to hurt;but the upside is far better than mediocre lifestyle..on the whole,it is a win-win situation!!

General Comment:the meaning of this song is really obvoius if you listen to it enough times. it is clearly about driving off a cliff. the lyrics

come on and we'll see, like we were free
push the pedal down(floor it off a cliff)
watch the world around fly by us(as your falling off the cliff)
come on and we'll try, one last time
i'm off of the floor one more time to find you(off the floor or road, as he's driving off the cliff)

if you play this song backwards, you can hear someone saying spanoodis eats cheese at night.

General Comment:I think this song is about how a guy just found Jesus and he cannot wait to experience life now. It's like he's all fresh and excited. (i.e. the chorus)

General Comment:I basically just think it's about finding and getting what you want out of life, however long the road may be. Since he's a musician, I think it's about his journey to "making it." Here's a couple of lyrics that are probably interpreted one way, but here's what I think of them:

"don't know where your coming from but your coming soon"

He doesn't know when his break will come, or when his talents will be recognized, but he believes that he's going to get what he deserves eventually, from some where, some one.

"to a kid from oregon by way of california
all of this is more than i've ever known or seen"

Obviously Oregon and California are his past, and being in Nashville, TN, he's amazed by all the opportunity around him. He didn't know of these opportunities out West, and he's seeing them now.
