Metaphor for a missing moment
Pull me into your perfect circle

One womb
One shape
One resolve

Liberate this will
To release us all

Gotta cut away, clear away
Snip away and sever this
Umbilical residue that's
Keeping me from killing you

And from pulling you down with me in here
I can almost hear you scream

Give me
One more medicated peaceful moment
One more medicated peaceful moment

And I don't wanna feel this overwhelming
Hostility
Because I don't wanna feel this overwhelming
Hostility

Gotta cut away Clear away
Snip away and sever this
Umbilical residue
Gotta cut away Clear away
Snip away and sever this
Umbilical residue that's
Keeping me from killing you
Keeping me from killing you

General Comment:Without getting into the mythological reference well-covered by bottlecap09, this strikes me as Freudian psychology in lyric form. It's the perfect theme song for a serial killer in a movie.

General Comment:I don't see the Jesus relation at all. Orestes is a Greek myth related to the Trojan War. Orestes was the son of the Greek king Agamennon. Orestes's mother killed his father for various reasons, and Orestes was torn with his duty to avenge his father. On the one hand, he was expected to avenge his father, but doing so would mean killing his mother. Whatever choice he made, he would be cursed, either for not avenging his father or for killing his mother.

So the literal meaning of this song has to do with Orestes trying to separate his maternal bond ("sever this umbilical residue") so that he can avenge his father. But seeing as how APC is never solely literal, it has applications to the whole "damned if I do, damned if I don't" moments in life.

General Comment:The drummer of the great A Pefect Circle, is of course Josh Freeze that was the studio drummer of Evanescence, and did all the druming on their first commercial album - Fallen.

General Comment:A Perfect Circle is my favorite band, so, techinally, I should hate this song. But I actually think she does an okay job at it really. Interesting to see it from a female vocal version ^.^

General Comment:I agree with the part about the screaming. It annoys the shit out of me even more because when you can actually hear the music, Amy's voice is so suited to this song, its beautiful.

The solo completely Disappear because some men saying "amy i love you"!!! . Jesus fuckin christ!

i think we must respect the bands when they cover a song cuz they do it once . i cant compare it to the original version, but i love a perfect circle
