    General Comment:i have to disagree with you skijorn, i do think the song could be about a love from childhood times. the reference to the sun and fountains makes me think of playing outside as children during summer. although, i do feel like the song has more of a feel of two kids being friends forever and always caring about each other, but nothing ever coming out of it, and then as they grew up, they grew apart and now that they're grown, he's realized how much he cared for her and says he's happy for her and in doing so, is moving on, or at least trying to.

    also, i think comparing the color gold to mediocrity is brilliant

    General Comment:oh and to quitegreen eyes by the way jesse and michelle never dated were just good friends. michelle dated adam lazzara and adam cheated on her. You're mixing up the story with when jesse's girlfriend cheated on him with best friend john nolan (michelle's bro) from straylight run. so many people get that wrong. i still think the song isn't about michelle but like i said it could be i don't know.

    General Comment:i don't know if its about michelle but that makes sense, but its definately not about some girl who liked him in third grade that was probably jesse making a joke and you just did not catch on to whoever wrote that i don't want to go back to look at the user name. But yeah songs like this aren't really about a joke like that, songs like this are real and what you get when you write from the heart like someone else said. Maybe michelle maybe not, but definately about some one real important to him that he felt like completed him in a way. Oh and i don't think its sherri dupree either cause it talks about it like when they were kids so long ago. Definately someone important from the past that has affected his life all along.
