Jimmy wasn't really popular
He had a couple of friends back home
Sooner or later they're all gettin' out
So he had to join up alone

He was dreamin' of the ivy leagues
Since he was only three feet tall
Get the hell out of Jersey
And then he would never look back at all

And then you hear em' say
That miles away
We lost another one that we sent with a gun
They're gonna miss him
He was two weeks from twenty
And there's still no shame
From the man to blame

Jimmy never had a reason to stay
Cause all the factories shut down
All he had was a line for his name
So he could sign away his right to be proud
He tried to kiss her on the way out the door
She just put her little hand on his face
I don't understand why you're leavin', she said
But I hope you're gonna ask me to wait

And then you hear em' say
That miles away
We lost another one that we sent with a gun
His lady missed him
He was two weeks from twenty
And there's still no shame
From the man to blame

Jimmy's mother went to capitol hill
So she could fill her heart up with joy
Maybe shake a few hands while she's there
And tell em' thank you sir for takin' my boy

And then you hear em' say
That miles away
We lost another one that we sent with a gun
His momma missed him
He was two weeks from twenty
And there's still no shame
From the man to blame

No there's still no shame
And we're all to blame
We're all to blame
We're all to blame
We're all to blame
We're all to blame

General Comment:I just don't understand why they chose Capitol Hill for
"Jimmy's mother went to capitol hill so she could fill her heart up with joy.
Maybe shake a few hands while she's there, and tell em' thank you sir for takin' my boy"

    Like....
Is there a specific reason they chose it, or was it random?

(When I first listened to it, I thought it might be about gay bashing because of that. >_> )

    General Comment:shuimitao-
I know that comment was a year old
and I would like to show that I actually did
    finish the 1st grade

(I DIDNT FINISH THE SECOND GRADE, BUT IM WORKING ON IT!)

and I'm not as stupid as
    my comment looked.

first of, I don't even know why my grammar was so
horrible, probably because I was really angry and didn't
    take time to spell check.
(you can all laugh at the republican now)

    SECONDLY,
I AM IN NO WAY A REDNECK.
    because I have an opinion
that differs from yours, I'm automatically
a redneck? isn't that a little 'red neck' itself?
    as in being unaccepting?
    huh.

    and,
    ilovehoratio

    it's sad but true that
    sometimes war is inevitable,
like the civil war, if we didn't fight the south
we would probably still have slaves.

General Comment:ok, here are my personal thoughts about the song. I think tha Jimmy got out of highschool, had nothing to do, so his mom convinced him to join the army even though HE was anti war, etc , etc. When it talked about signing away his pride, that was Jimmy's view. This song doesn't neccisarily represent Yellowcard's views, just the views of many people in Jimmy's situation (Grow up in a small town, no where to work after highschool, and nowhere to go...) Obviously his mom was proud of him, but he didn't believe in the cause...

General Comment:Its clearly about a boy that just is clearly nineteen and now he doesnt know wat to do cause his friends are gone and "all the factories shut down" so he probably doesnt have that high of an education meaning he doesnt have many options....So like an idiot (in my opinion) he joins the army...dies and now the man to blame(george bush) feels no shame..REally we are all to blame....Cause we voted for him.lol YELLOWCARD ROCKS!!!!

General Comment:just because the war isn't even war anymore and doesn't even really have a point doesn't mean you should mock the troops nor does it justify doing so in my opinion... seriously, support them. they're dying over there....

General Comment:xIm_so_dirty_babex it's not fair that your argument is written off because of the incorrect spelling and grammar so I thought I would help you out and post your argument corrected (corrections are in upper case):

    dnask8 YOU'RE a fucking GENIUS k

Yeah he is right, people are fighting over in Iraq and everywhere so you can have a right to say THAT you don't have any respect for them. If they weren't [FIGHTING] you'd have to keep your fuckinG OPINION to YOURSELF. Bush is trying to help the people there. THEY'RE are the ones who are bombing us! Dipshits.
So what do you expect? Just do nothing?
He helped them have a fucking ELECTION to vote for whoMever they want! He's trying to make them free people; dumbasses, so i guess if your anti-Bush
    your anti-FREEDOM!

I went through that quickly and could have missed some, but that covers the obvious ones.

    General Comment:to xIm_so_dirty_babex:

"so what do you expect? just do nothing?
he helped them have a fucking allection to vote for whoever they want !"

For someone who spells election as ALLECTION, you obviously don't deserve to talk about war, freedom or george w bush. go back to grade 1 and learn how to spell first before you start ranting about your red neck opinions
