Lyrics for Believe In Dreams as interpreted by Josenose

Believe In Dreams Lyrics
I know, the days will come and go,
But baby I’ll grow old, but I will die.
For now, is it worth it to be sad, if it’s harder to be glad to be alive?
For the trouble I have caused
I wonder,
Where do I belong?

Is it here?

Believe in dreams you love so much,
Let the passion of your hearts make them real-
And tell all the ones you love,
Anything and everything you feel.
I laugh about the past-
Secretly,
Wish we could go back,
And save the child...

As I look around this room,
See the worried eyes I know
It’s time I cannot buy
Was this worth the time to rise?
Was this worth the time to rise?

Believe in dreams
I believe in dreams
I believe in dreams
I believe in you

Believe in dreams you love so much,
Let the passion of your hearts make them real
And tell all the ones you love,
Anything and everything you feel…
Believe in dreams
Believe dreams…

To me this song is about a relationship that went bad. The girl was pregnant but when she knew they weren;t together anymore she had an abortion. "Wish we could go back, And Save a child" She wishes the relationship would have never fallen apart just so she could have kept her kid. The whole song is about dreaming what it would be like if they were still together.
Well thats what i think.,..Come on prove me wrong people

It seems to me like it is about a child that died and they wish they could go back and save them. Perhaps it is a real child or she is speaking of herself and what she has become. Also to And tell "all the ones you love, Anything and everything you feel" its like tell them before they die or you die.

This song was written by one of the guys in the band...Jared maybe? I can't remember.

But anyway, I think it's maybe a message he wanted to send to Lacey about her life.

I think that it's saying believe in yourself, believe in your dreams, don't waste your life living in the past...even though i wish i could go back and save the child that i was, tell her it would all be ok, i can't buy time...so I will move forward.

Beautiful song. It's pretty self-explanatory. But, anyway, it's saying that you should believe in your dreams because, one day, you're going to be older and wish that you could have done it. So, do it now. Believe in yourself and you'll go far.

"Secretly,
Wish we could go back,
And save the child..."

^I think that's about Lacey or someone else wishing she could go back and save herself somehow or just reassure her younger self. But, unfortunately, she can't.

I think this song is just telling people to live for their dreams and to not waste the time you have with your loved ones. It is about wanting to go back and change the child you were, even though you know you can't. Even though you may have caused trouble in the past, you can be a better person now.

save the child....i take it as someone grew up too fast, and lost the innocence of their mind or otherwise. life gets uglier the more i see of it, but children dont seem to notice the ugly until its shoved down their throat

I know, the days will come and go,
But baby I’ll grow old, but I will die.
For now, is it worth it to be sad, if it’s harder to be glad to be alive?
For the trouble I have caused
I wonder,
Where do I belong?

Is it here?

(I think she's confessed and wondering if she really belongs anywhere after all the pain she's put people through.)

I laugh about the past-
Secretly,
(She finds what she did when she was younger funny, yet she doesn't want people to know it. She could be afraid of what they might say, or do.)

Wish we could go back,
And save the child
(I guess maybe Lacey is saying that she wishs she could go back in time and save herself as a child, to try to keep herself from doing drugs, and becoming someone better)

As I look around this room,
See the worried eyes I know
It’s time I cannot buy
Was this worth the time to rise?
Was this worth the time to rise?

(I'm not really sure about this one, but I think she finds it kinda pointless to be telling people about herself cause of what might be to come.)

First of all this song is amazing. I love all of Flyleafs songs they all have deep meanings that reach out to me.

Secondly i think this song is about her as a child and maybe she wanted to do something to be something but someone was against it and she didn't get to do what she wanted to do. So she is now sending out the message don't you give up on your dreams like i gave up on mine. I think that's got something to do with the reference to the child, she wishes she could go back and change herself and carrying on persuing what she wants to do and not what other people want her to do.
It's just a thought you may think i'm wrong lol

*I want to start off by saying that I am going to interpret this song as how it applies to ME. Because that's what I think songs are...expressions for YOU to relate to.*

I know, the days will come and go,
But baby I’ll grow old, but I will die.
(Everybody dies, and you have to come to terms with that. You are going to die, accept it, and don't be afraid)

For now, is it worth it to be sad, if it’s harder to be glad to be alive?
(Carpe Diem, my friends! Don't wimp out and let yourself sink into depression just because you think your life sucks! Get out there and take the bull by the horns. Take the high road, a little more effort is worth it in the end. The glass HAS TO be seen as half full, otherwise what are we doing here?)

For the trouble I have caused
I wonder,
Where do I belong?

Is it here?
(You have to find the place when you fit in, where there is joy. If it's all misery...you do not belong there. Do what you have to, go where you have to, to be happy.)

Believe in dreams you love so much,
Let the passion of your hearts make them real-
And tell all the ones you love,
Anything and everything you feel.
(YOU have the power to make all your dreams come true. Believe in them. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and just believe. Do not leave the ones you love in the dark, because if they don't know you need them - they can't help.)

I laugh about the past-
Secretly,
Wish we could go back,
And save the child...
(Everybody wants a redo. Stop and think...that one redo. The one moment in your life that you don't want anymore. Did you see something no child should see? Don't you wish you could go back, and cover your eyes and know everything was going to be ok?)

As I look around this room,
See the worried eyes I know
It’s time I cannot buy
Was this worth the time to rise?
Was this worth the time to rise?
(This is almost like a flash forward...to a deathbed. Worth the time to rise, literally meaning to be born, to live life. "Rise from the ashes" Looking back, contemplating - did you make your life worth while?)

Believe in dreams
I believe in dreams
I believe in dreams
I believe in you
(Again, Carpe Diem!)

Believe in dreams you love so much,
Let the passion of your hearts make them real
And tell all the ones you love,
Anything and everything you feel…
Believe in dreams
Believe dreams…
(Live you life to it's FULLEST compacity. Love, lose, laugh, cry, try, fail - Do it all. Live each day as it were your last...because, one day it will be.)

i thought at the end of the song she says "was this worth the time to write"
she is kinda looking back on her life in the rest of the song and talking about how you shouldn't waste time and all. and so was this worth the time to write could mean would this song better her career...get her anywhere....or is it just another waste....

I think it is about Lacey Mosley or someone she knows who made mistakes in the past and that we should believe in our dreams... i think it is what the person in the song failed to do

this song is giving advice. There may be things to regret, there are times when things are hard in life, there are times when you are the pain is someone's life, but go ahead and believe in your dreams. that is what will take you places. Dont take time for granted..if you love someone, TELL THEM. now. you may not get another chance.

also, all of you who say that the "save the child" lyrics are about an aborted baby or whatnot...no...i do believe you are wrong. You must think about the theme surrounding the whole band..GOD. live for God. The lyric means, We secretly wish we could go back and save jesus from being crucified. even though this is a major theme of christianity, when we really stop and think about how much pain Jesus went through when he was crucified, we want to go back and save the child of God.
