You are the lighthouse, the seamark
The tempests created this tide
I'm pulled to the black silver ocean
Where the current and the heavens collide

You are the brick
I am so unpredictable
Led by the current away
Your solid stage is so necessary to save
All those who stray

You are the navigator who never could lead
We were lost in the silver sea
I was the ship who was too proud to ever sink.

I am your thought but the water is amnesia
My name is on the tip of your tongue
My image is slipping
But your memory is gripping it
This is my breath in your lungs

You are the navigator who never could lead
We were lost in the silver sea
I was the ship who was too proud to ever sink.

Echo, my voice is an echo
Of places I don't know
And stories I've been told

Echo. We all are connected
A lighthouse a voyage
For history's sake,
Will you please take notice?

Song Meaning:He cheated on her [The tempests created this tide]

she's "forced" to let him go and becomes depressed
because shes too proud to forgive cheating [I'm pulled to the black silver ocean]
[I was the ship who was too proud to ever sink.]

even though he is the man he could never lead because he is always stationary like a lighthouse whos purpose is to help people who are lost or stray. [You are the navigator who never could lead][You are the lighthouse] [Your solid stage is so necessary to save All those who stray] he WON'T chase her or try to win her back that just the type of man he is, unchanging, like a lighthouse that is always there.

when something on the tip of your tongue its in your head but you can't REALLY remember it. he's forgetting her. [My name is on the tip of your tongue]

his voice is an echo because he cannot speak for himself. his words are just a repetition of what people tell him. [Echo, my voice is an echo
    Of places I don't know]

General Comment:First thing is that I absolutly love Hush sound and this song is one of the best....

I also think this is about relationship, she's telling how he is everything she ever wanted... but it reminds me somehow the feelings during/ after the fight... I had a fight with my boyfriend just yesterday and this is exactly how I feel.... I want to tell him so much that I'm sorry, but I'm sometimes to proud ... (We were lost in the silver sea
I was the ship who was too proud to ever sink) ....

General Comment:One of the Hush Sound's most beautiful songs. It can be interpreted in a number of ways. Personally, I think of it as someone trying to start a relationship with someone, but can't quite make it happen. She keeps trying, but he doesn't quite pick up on it. "I am your thought but the water is amnesia" and "For history's sake, would you please take notice?" I love how everything is related to ships and the ocean, it creates a wonderful metaphor. The Hush Sound's lyrics are amazing, they give you so much to think about!

General Comment:i have no idea if this is correct, but i always related to the last portion of the song about the echo.
the event that shaped me into who i am, happened far away from me. i didnt know any of the people, i didnt know that places, i could only repeat the stories. so i became the echo of what had happened. it also says that we are all connected, and that we need to notice it. i think it relates to the echo, because the same event has caused similar echos in other peoples lives. in that way, we are all connected, and maybe if everyone realized that, they would think twice about their actions and history wouldn't be so cruel.

its probly not right, but it makes sense to me

General Comment:this song for me is about a couple who try to make it work but they keep arguing and the "echo" is the repeated arguments they will always have if they dont try to improve their relationship.

My Interpretation:I really like this song. I made a music video for it in my mind that plays every time i hear this. It's kinda cheezy and dorky, but here's how it goes:

The girl (I picture it as being Greta, but it could be anyone) is in a school Talent Show on stage with the spotlight on her. She's singing for the whole audience, but is looking at a guy (I picture being Bob) any time she looks up and it's like she's saying every word to him. They were in a relationship that fell apart and she still likes him a little. There are random clips of them fighting, and ones of each of them moping and contemplating their loneliness.

Then it gets to the "Echo" part and the spotlight changes so you can see the whole band. The girl is really concentrating on playing the song now so she doesn't look up at the guy for a while, but does when she says "For history's sake would you please take notice," and she sees he's gone. Then she hears his voice singing and realizes he's come on stage. By being there, it's like he's saying, "I know exactly what you're saying and feel the same way, i want you to notice, and I want to change."

These lyrics are so stuck in my head. I love this song. The piano at the end is so strong and beautiful.
